Pours just like a cola soda - dirty brown and extremely fizzy. Bad start right off the bat. Head barely had a chance to make a showing before it faded off into permanent oblivion. Some decent aromas of cocoa powder, roasted malts and sweet caramel can be barely detected. However, a very distracting and unpleasant sour or musty smell lingered in the background. Mouthfeel was just awful in everyway. Thin, watery with a stinging soda-like fizziness. Flavor very much like the nose but tougher to handle since you have to actually swallow this stuff. Some malty, caramel cocoa sweetness appears initially but is quicky followed by a fairly repulsive tart sourness. Perhaps I purchased a bad bottle and of course glad it wasnt six; but serving this to your friends would be a good way to lose them!

Dark brown with white flecks. Sweet aroma of cocoa. Supersweet taste that is sour, dirty and dry.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2007 Dark brown color with minimal lacing and no head. Smells like a porter left exposed to air for a week or so. Truly awful saccharine sweet taste mingled with fish.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2007 Nasty, sour, funky, bitter, infected, and medicinal. Utterly undrinkable. Just a sloppy brew. I can honestly say that this was one of the worst beers Ive ever encountered. YUCK!! Drain Pour.

Cloudy medium to light brown color with a tan head, built about two fingers thick on the pour and then quickly settling out. Nose of milk and cream and toasted grains, light burnt toast scent with a creamy milk chocolate character as well. Smells pretty good, but tastes absolutely horrible. What is going on? Tastes medicinal, lactic and sour – in a really bad way. Infected maybe? I’m not sure, I just know it tastes terrible. I poured it out.

12oz bottle: Deep brown/red color, crystal clear, with smallish creamy light tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma has sour cherries, bit of chocolate and vanilla, slight metallic notes. Flavor has a bit of chocolate, cherries, and molasses up front, but quickly gives way to a striking chemically, lactic tartness that makes you pucker up throughout the finish. My first thought was that this was infected, but it seems like others have noted this as well. Not sure if this was just a bad batch, or if they were trying for this, but eitherway it doesnt come off well.

looks very nice, a slightly creamy looking dark brown body and a thin off white head that gives this a very guiness like look. nose is all chocolate with just a hint of vanila. flavor is pretty much the same, except for a slightly unpleaseant acidic tartness that finishes off the flavor and persists through the aftertaste. dont know yet if this is spoiled, i have some more bottles and may do a rerate later

Clear dark body, tan head, dry chocolatey aroma, terrible flavour. All charred malt, with a little funk & some sour milk. Acidic, nasty, biley. Ugh.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark sepia brown with an off white head. has great lacing. Theres not much of a chocolate aroma, but the chocolate flavor is very rich and nice. I like it.
