UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small tan head. The aroma was dryish and roasty with a hint of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was dry cocoa powder with a touch of nut and malted milk and light ripe fruits. The finish was long malty cocoa. Very nice.

330ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Sodium ethanoate aroma, some potato starch. What Im trying to say is "salt and vinegar crisps". Taste is sweet liquid toffee, very bland. Slickish palate, a bit flat and dead. No porter detected, not sure theres much beer at all. Poor brew.

Bottle from Alko. Black color, beige head. Bitter taste with roasted malts, nuts, a bit of chocolate, vanilla and bread. Very weak body, especially for the ABV. Bitter finish with roasted malts, nuts, bread and a bit of chocolate. Drinkable brew.

Clear dark brown to black, beige frothy head is short. Dry and malty first, ash, cocoa, coffee, mocca, chocolate. Medium body, round, dry, same elements, bit tobacco, medium long finish. Quite ok, tasty.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a dark brown to black with a beige head of foam. Aroma has horehound, toffee, nuts, molasses, and ash. Fairly sweet beer overall. Seems like there are a lot of additions to this beer. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Dark sweet. Espresso. Farm. Gentle. Some coco and probably vanilla. Long sweetlicious aftertaste. Sadly watery. Old batch though.

12 oz bottle into pint glass.

Pours a ruby color, maybe its mahogany, dark brown perhaps. But you can see light through it. About one finger khaki head. Little retention, some lacing.

Aroma is cocoa. Dark, rich cocoa. Its almost chocolate cake sweet and rich smelling. Smells very nice. I also smell some honey. Not much else.

Taste is chocolate. I taste some coffee, but its deep in there. Its sweet. It has to be to overcome that cocoa flavor..

Mouthfeel is medium light. Not a lot of body. Very smooth and creamy. Slightly bitter deep in the finish from the cocoa. Reasonably drinkable, no alcohol taste to be found.

Overall, its okay. There are far better porters out there. This one could be the best cocoa porter though, I dunno. If it had more body, it would be much better. Still not bad. Would I drink it again, yes, I would. I might recommend it as a dessert porter, because it is so sweet and chocolatey. Can you imagine pouring this over chocolate cake? Mmmmm....

bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Aroma of toasted malt. Opaque black color, 1" tan head, bands of lace. Taste is sweet malt that adds mild fizz on the swallow, turning from there to what seem like cocoa hops in the finish. All the parts dont make a harminic whole, with much seeming to be awkwardly place. The good parts are there - they just dont go together very well.

Heavy dark chocolate flavor. Not overpowering, but not much besides. Would drink again, but not if a better porter is available.
