UPDATED: MAR 19, 2018 Pours jet black with some foam, rich aroma of bitter coffee, unfortunately the aroma was the best part, overwhelming bitter coffee taste, no complexity, tap at brewery.

12 ounce can. Translucent cola brown color. Small creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose hints at cocoa and coffee. Sweet dark malt flavor. Big coffee notes. Cocoa and dried fruit as well. Earthy notes from the African coffees dominate the palate. Bold, smooth and flavorful. Slightly chewy mouthfeel. Herbal hop finish.

From notes, tasted at Great American Beer Festival 2017. Will add more notes if I get to try this again. Pretty good.

Draft at brewery. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice brewed coffee and berry notes on the nose and tongue. Finished dry with a subtle bitterness. Very nice!

Cans from the WW on 45. Nose dark coffee, dark roast, hint of chocolate. Pour medium-brown with light ruby at the bottom, head is a nice dense tan. Taste medium-bitter, seemingly more from the rich, velvety coffee, light-medium nuttiness, good doses of both medium and dark roasts, low caramel and butter (nice here), hint of harder and sharper crystal up top. Full body a little too-sweet, lightly sweet but there's some accumulation, hint of coffee acridity but not tangy. No fruit, really hones in on the coffee companionship. Really pretty phenomenal, though could use one more note of complexity to push it over the top. [2017.01.05:

Can thanks to TongoRad. Cheers Michael! Pours black but not pitch black as I can see some reddish highlights. +1 finger of foam, looks to be long lasting. Smells of roasted malt, dark chocolate, the malt almost has a burnt sensation to my nose, coffee is very noticeable but far from overwhelming. Lovely taster. Roast, almost, maybe burnt where it comes off to me as a bit smoky, bitter chocolate, solid coffee flavour, nice and dry. On the high end of medium bodied, spot on carbonation. What an excellent drop of a Porter!
