Ipa with New Zealand Nelson hops.
This zeelicious single hop IPA showcases the rare Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. Delightfully confusing aromas of citrus and mandarin oranges give way to an incredibly complex body of earth tones and marigolds. This is truly like any hop you’ve ever tasted.

On-tap. A - Very cloudy/hazed straw gold color. Good sized, soft, fluffy, light white head. Good retention leaving a decent lace. S - Orange citrus along with bitter green onion and earthy aroma. Hints of sweet malt, but the Nelson hops dominate the nose. Some sweet tropical fruitiness. T - Similar to the nose. Pretty strong bitter hop flavors with the sweetish fruit and bitter earth and onion combating. Slight sweet malt background but this is definitely a hoppy beer. M - Medium body with healthy carbonation. Pretty refreshing feel with a strong bitter and slightly dry finish. D - Easy to drink. A bit more bitter than sweet, but overall well balanced. Very hop forward but not too strong. Notes: On tap at Sanctuary. Single hop IPA with Nelson hops. Nice IPA with slightly bitter taste, especially the earthy/onion type flavor. Not overly fruit, or overly anything for that matter, but overall nice.

Refreshing, bright, mild citrus aroma. Very turbid (as is typical for TG) with a dull burnt-orange color (as is also typical for TG). Mouth feel is substantial for the style. Taste starts with the citrus, but transitions to be dominated by bitterness in the middle, and lingering into the aftertaste. Good malt presence to balance the hops, but definitely it is the flavor of the hops and the bittering that is the star of this beer. An enjoyable, if bitter, IPA. Well done.

Very cloudy gold pour with a tall, chunky white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is loaded with mandarin orange, lemon, passionfruit, tart melon and slightly earthy, toasty malt notes. Flavor is big, big citrus up front, lemon and orange peel, musty earthiness, dank hops, passionfruit a bit of cat box and some light biscuity, bready malt. Medium body, creamy feel, light, to blanketing, delightfully blanketing carbonation. Really fantastic.

Bright citrus, especially orange, with some pine. Great aroma. Warms well, releasing the big nose. Flavors are expected and less striking. Good, rounded, normal IPA. Bottle.

Bottle drunk 11/6/16.
Bright lemon-golden body is topped by a full, white head showing moderate to strong retention. High clarity.
Straightforward Nelson in the nose, but very nicely done, adding bright lemon, limestone, guava and wine-like minerality. It runs in to a lot of malt sweetness; big honey notes, with very light caramel and biscuity notes, as well. Some mild earthiness and no resin, thankfully, nor alcohol.
Very supple, malty body shows quite a bit of sugar still remaining. It’s not underattenuated, but certainly a lot sweeter than the New England IPAs I’m used to drinking (which, understandably, have to be a lot more dry to make up for the fact that they’re very low on IBUs). Anyways, the beer is still very nicely hopped with lots of wine character, lemon, cherry, strawberry and more limestone. Light earthiness and a touch of dry ash help soak up the malt. No alcohol or flaw.

22 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, served fairly cold in a Guinness glass. Pours an immense frothy quite stable off-white head topping a very faintly hazy or oily dark gold - pale amber body...big aromas of sour or lightly sweet orange, a bit of mango, and after a couple of minutes some piney/resinous notes; also, interestingly, a touch of smoke (cigarette & wood ash)...body is moderately sweet, a bit acidic, with a citric character slightly reminiscent of Mountain Dew, quite juicy throughout, lightly yeasty...finish is only a bit drier, but definitely more bitter/hoppy with a hint of pepper and again that very subtle smoky note...body is full, lightly syrupy, with low to moderate carbonation, just a bit sticky. Another winner from TG in the hoppy department, though the stickiness and fullness of this one make it a little tough to have a go at a whole 22.
