Ipa with New Zealand Nelson hops.
This zeelicious single hop IPA showcases the rare Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. Delightfully confusing aromas of citrus and mandarin oranges give way to an incredibly complex body of earth tones and marigolds. This is truly like any hop you’ve ever tasted.

On-tap. A - Very cloudy/hazed straw gold color. Good sized, soft, fluffy, light white head. Good retention leaving a decent lace. S - Orange citrus along with bitter green onion and earthy aroma. Hints of sweet malt, but the Nelson hops dominate the nose. Some sweet tropical fruitiness. T - Similar to the nose. Pretty strong bitter hop flavors with the sweetish fruit and bitter earth and onion combating. Slight sweet malt background but this is definitely a hoppy beer. M - Medium body with healthy carbonation. Pretty refreshing feel with a strong bitter and slightly dry finish. D - Easy to drink. A bit more bitter than sweet, but overall well balanced. Very hop forward but not too strong. Notes: On tap at Sanctuary. Single hop IPA with Nelson hops. Nice IPA with slightly bitter taste, especially the earthy/onion type flavor. Not overly fruit, or overly anything for that matter, but overall nice.

Bottle. A- Pine, tropical citrus, floral, dank. A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Pine, bitter, tropical citrus, floral. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- A bit more aggressive than most pale ales from TG but still a solid brew. Lots of floralness balanced out by tropical citrus. Love the label art.

If you're a hop geek who enjoys studying up (and drinking up) on any varietal, ZeeLander is like a dissertation on Nelson Sauvin... in your mouth. It pours gold and is completely hazy. Gorgeous smells of flowers and tropical fruits. There's just enough malt to add a bit of biscuit flavor and reign in the alpha acid. Floral, grassy, and herbal hops with strong leanings toward white wine, orange zest, and pineapple. This is fairly bitter for TG IPA, but this beer is supposed to be hop-forward since Nelson is being put in the spotlight. It's crisp, oily, and dry. Everything about this works brilliantly.

Bottle at the Ipswich winter bottle share. Source James. Region #114. Pours cloudy yellow gold with a lasting quite large white head. Aroma of hops, citrus and tropical fruit, caramel and biscuit. Light sweetness, towards heavy bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. Bitter citrus finish, good beer.

MNAle (234) - Minnesota, USA - JUL 12, 2017
Refreshing, bright, mild citrus aroma. Very turbid (as is typical for TG) with a dull burnt-orange color (as is also typical for TG). Mouth feel is substantial for the style. Taste starts with the citrus, but transitions to be dominated by bitterness in the middle, and lingering into the aftertaste. Good malt presence to balance the hops, but definitely it is the flavor of the hops and the bittering that is the star of this beer. An enjoyable, if bitter, IPA. Well done.
