Topvar 11 % tmavý výčapný ležiak je charakteristický svojim typickým buketom, ktorý je zmesou vôní špeciálnych sladov a kvalitného chmeľu. Lahodnosť piva spočíva v harmonickej kombinácii svetlého, bavorského, karamelového a farebného sladu. Má výraznú tmavú farbu, sladkastú karamelovú príchuť a primeranú, miernu horkosť.(from the website of the brewery...)

Dark brown to black appearance, medium head. Caramel, honey and coffee aroma, roasted malts. Medium high sweetness, malty, decently rounded. Good dark beer.

(draught 0,5l @ Covera (Terchová)) Light roasted malt aroma. Dark brown color. Huge light brown head. Light sweet, light roasted, light chocolate taste. Dry finish.

Dark colour with creamy head, in taste I caramel and sweetness I find only low bitterness, not really sweet, with coffee & roasted malts aroma, finish is little bit dry.

ElDesmadre (3630) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 16, 2011
Bottle. Dark brown, frothy, rocky, lasting head. Aroma is some roasted malt, vanilla, some coffee and carmel, less toffee, hints of dark bread and earth, a little bit of wood. Very interesting, better than the taste. Mainly caramel, toffee, coffee but overall watery. Light to moderate bitterness, some grassy hops. Thick palate, watery taste, additionally pervaded by the presence of synthetic sweetener with its astringent handling of the tongue.

Cuso (8933) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAR 17, 2011
Bottle. Brown color with medium beige head. Aroma, coffee, roasted malt. Taste, pretty the same plus caramel. Nothing special.

gunnar (9390) - Sandnes, NORWAY - JUL 21, 2010
Bottle from Tesco, Bratislava. ABV 5,2 %. Pours nearly pitch black with a small tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark caramel and some liquorice. Taste is fresh and crisp, light roasted malts, coffee and toffee. Ends dry with a dark chocolate character, very good dunkel.

BaroneBirra (472) - Gorizia, ITALY - JUN 15, 2010
0.5cl bottle from Bratislava. big soft head, brownish and medium lasting. liquid is dark brown with amber reflections. aroma is light yeasts, burnt cereals and licorice. initially taste is sweet, brown sugar, metallic and toasted malts. aftertaste is bitter (burnt). full body, quite smooth. is strange to taste sweet and bitter in the sxame beer, but overall this Topvar is a good beer!

My sample is definitely the "Premium" bottle as in the pic. The "Marina" caption in nowhere mentioned. But instead of 4.1, the ABV is given for 5.2%! Medium dark beige head over near-black beer with ruby reflections. Dry chocolate/cacao powder aromas, dark malts, dark grains, burnt barley. Very stout-like initial flavour, soon relieved by a more sweet flavour, slightly liquorice-like. Definite roasted components - more Schwarz than Dunkel, IMO. Sweetness is not syrupy, leaving a dry-ish, softly carbonated and light-to-medium bodied beer. Not bad, pretty dry Dunkel to sweet-ending Schwarz. Many thanks to the Urselian Slovak gang!!
