An excellent Czech pilsener, soft, hoppy with firm maltiness, exquisite balance. A beer truly to be savoured. opiate (199) - Sandy, Utah, USA - FEB 15, 2002
Well...I didn't think I cared that the 2002 Winter Games came to SLC. That was a short sighted attitude. I work for a local brew pub...and through some connection of one of the owners me and my boss were able to visit the Slovakian house. They had the Topvar 'light' and 'dark' as they called it. (English wasn't understood much there.) Anyway... superb beer!! Fucking amazing. As a brewer...I'm constantly amazed and mystified at what the Europeans are able to do with their beer. I want to know what the secret trick is!! This beer was light in color. Full flavored..full bodied. Reminded me more of a German pilsner than a Czech pilsner. It leaned toward the malty side of the balance. Excellent beer. Thank you Slovakia!! :-)

Bottle. Nice malt aroma. Pale yellow color with moderate head. Balanced malt and hops flavor - nice body. A very nice pils and much better than the 10%.

Pours golden w/ a full semi creamy froth that recedes slowly. Aroma is that of malted sweet grains. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors of malted fruity grains are up front w/ moderate carameling. The finish has a refined bitterness w/ a touch of asprin. Overall: the asprin finish really puts this brew in a better place. Very thirst quenching. A good brew. coldbrewky (1731) - Hippetown East, New York, USA - DEC 8, 2006
Best when served at room temperature. A wonderful full bodied mouthfeel that only the Slovaks can pull off. Aroma lasts the whole four minutes you are drinking it. I look forward to junifest this coming june in Bratislava so I can have at the source. dr.dod (526) - Szeged, HUNGARY - AUG 9, 2015
500ml bottle. There is sweetness and very light smoke in smell. Its taste is also these, beside sweetness there are bread and yeast, some hoppy bitter change each other. Medium body, medium yellow colour, medium foam but silk Co2. motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 16, 2001
perfectly good. soft, hoppy, a little fruitier than its czech counterparts. heykevin (1287) - Decorah, Iowa, USA - JAN 12, 2002
This is what I desire in a Czech style pilsener. Firm saaz hopping in bitterness and flavor/aroma balanced by a nice firm maltiness. Very well balanced.
