Abominable pours a very dark brown. You would think itís pitch black but itís noticable when youíre pouring this stuff into a glass that itís brown. Small amount of head and no lacing. Right off the bat you are blasted by really fresh coffee. There really isnít much more in the smell but the coffee but itís enough. Itís wonderful. I could of sat there for hours just smelling this beer.
The taste has is more complex though and as you let it warm up, more and more comes out. I love Coffeehouse Stout because it was like you were drinking breakfast. Coffee and cream. This made me feel the same way. The fresh, strong coffee taste was complimented by cream, sweet chocolate, and roasted malt. Itís just wonderful. I could easily finished that growler that night.
The mouthfeel just added to the greatness. Medium bodied and very creamy. Went down perfect. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 14, 2011
On tap at Town Hall in June 2010. Reviewed from notes.
Pours a very, very dark brown color. A bit of a mocha head and some slight, spotty lacing. The nose is really, really strong fresh-brewed coffee with a bit of espresso. I feel I need to describe different types of coffee to accurately state how much was in this brew. Taste is slight roast with loads of coffee. Really nice feel with a touch of creaminess. Really nice and authentic; they did this really well.
Amyliz4 was a huge fan of this, ordering multiple pints on consecutive days.

On tap at the brewpub. Pour was a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma was coffee and chocolate malt. It tastes distinctly like cold press coffee. Little chocolate there too. Light on the palate, but that is great for a summer porter. Really a simple and enjoyable coffee beer. Atom (2418) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 9, 2010
On tap at Town Hall. Pours dark brown with light tan head nice lacing. Very much fresh coffee in aroma vanilla maple. Taste of cold pressed coffee very fresh, vanilla, chocolate, and maple. Light texture with a thick full taste very enjoyable and drinkable. Nuffield (4169) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 5, 2010
There is likely to be a sharp split of opinion on this beer, but for those who love coffee, this is a rocking beer. I had no idea it was a sessionable 5% beer when I was drinking it, and that only heightens my appreciation of it, since most of the time coffee porters/stouts are sipping beers. The coffee is all over the nose and the flavor, and what it manages to do is avoid the "coffee grounds" flavors or harsh astringencies of some attempts. The palate may be too fizzy, though in a summer beer that may be o.k., and it isnít designed to give you that great richness that you would get with a higher abv beer. Jazz88 with me didnít like the coffee...but I love love loved it. On tap at brewpub.

reviewed from my phone, so it is shortened...
Nice inky black pour with decent head retention. Nose is strong
coffee. Taste is strong smooth carbonated coffee. Lacing sticks to the side of the glass like a champ.
Weak flavors overall except for the coffee, which is a bit overpowering for the porter. 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - JUN 26, 2010
Growler from Town Hall. Pitch black pour with a beautiful cascading tan head. Aroma is simply perfect for a coffee beer. Smells like Caribou in my pint glass. Mouthfeel is a little thin though, flavors are much more subtle. More coffee of course with a bit of chocolate and the chocolate seems to stick around in the finish. I could smell this beer all day and drink it just as long. The aromas are much bigger than the flavors which are still good, just not as prominent. Great session beer. Tap. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Huge nose of coffee. Taste is rich coffee, maybe some chocolate. Good stuff. HonusWagner (2168) - Florida, USA - JUN 19, 2010
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2011 Luscious, creamy and full body on a sub-5% ABV American Porter? Strong aroma of fresh ground coffee and a taste that pays off that same flavor? As my man Andre 3000 said: "So fresh and so clean, clean." Yes, Town Hall Abominable, I do think you are so sexy. bluemooner (657) - East Bethel, Minnesota, USA - JUN 12, 2010
Tap. Near black pour with a medium, creamy brown head. Aroma primarily roasted malt and sweet coffee with some chocolate. Sweet flavor with coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, and some caramel and nuts. Medium bodied and quite smooth and creamy with soft carbonation presence. Quite an enjoyable brew.
