Pours a golden caramel with a paperthin head. Aroma of strong bourbon and oak. Taste follows, very hoppy, very tasty. My favorite of the lot!

750ml bottle from Alpar, shared it at Markwise’s Bday bash, poured a nice orange color, aromas of oak, vanilla, bourbon, pine, and some hops. Flavors are the same was on the fence on how this one woud play out, but nice beer overall. Thanks Alex for the trade. Papsoe (25060) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 14, 2012
Botle 75 cl. Courtesy of Steasy66. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white lacing head. Sweet Bourbon aroma, caramel and lightly citric fruit. Rich body, loads of caramel again, dry and boozy Bourbon with a hot finish. In spite of the booze it’s a very enjoyable Barley Wine. 140712 Steasy66 (1158) - Minnesota, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Sample at Papsoe’s with the Danish crew.
Apricot colored, white head. Smells of spicy hops, bourbon. Taste is quite boozy, nice hop bitterness, some caramel. Overall very nice beer, think of it more as a American Barleywine than a DIPA.

Bottle. Thanks to bnielsen13. Pours an orange color with off white head. Aromas of oak and bourbon. Kind of tastes like a barley wine more than a double ipa. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Thanks to burg326 for the share on this one. Thanks, Adam! Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is caramel, vanilla, wood, bourbon, and piney hops. Flavor is similar with a nose dose of malt from the IPA, a nice vanilla/ wood infusion from the barrel, and some pine hops from the IPA-ness again. Interesting barrel beer. jbeatty (1255) - New York, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Bottle, thanks to chewey08rx, 03/24/2012. Pours murky orange brown with thin head, medium retention and nice lacing. The nose is mostly bourbon, dominating the IPA base- initially vanilla, toffee caramel, bourbon bite, followed secondarily by syrupy malt character, slightly fruity and citric, mild hop presence. Taste again is initially big bourbon notes, creamy vanilla caramel maltiness, boozy, with fruity, tingling hops coming out in the finish. Hops are more felt than tasted, and linger in the aftertaste. Lush mouthfeel, and despite the booziness, remains easy to drink. The barrel treatment, more so than any IPA characteristic, shines here and makes the beer worth having. Approach more as a barrel-aged strong ale or barleywine.
