COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

Had this at the DC/MD/VA/WV/PA gathering. Growler courtesy of hopscotch.Dark brown to near black. Nice roasted notes, dark chocolate, light coffee, some hints of alcohol and cocoa. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, alcohol, and dark fruit. Body is surprisingly bigger than expected and is almost chewy. Finishes with cocoa, chocolate and cofee, notes. Good beer!

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2003 Black with brown head that laced the glass. Aroma of oatmeal and coffee. Improved over previous tasting. Great flavor of roasted coffee. Recently tried this on cask. Incredibly smooth and full bodied.

On tap at brewpub during RBSG planning meeting. Pours an opaque near black brew with a thick and creamy dark tan head. Nice spotty lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, oatmeal, dark chocolate and a touch of coffee. Taste is medium body, a little acidic, some bitterness in the finish. Palate is smooth and a little watery.

Chocolate, dark, toasted malts, sweet coffee. Black, small, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More dark, toasted malts, bitter chocolate, sweet, caramel, sweet coffee, medium carbonation, bitter finish. Very decent Sweet Stout, well-balanced. Keg at the brewey, Minneapolis.

Draft @ Brewpub: Black, tan head, light lacing. Nose of bright chocolate and licorice, sweet mocha and a breve like coffee note. Moderately astringent flavor, super roasty and charred. A nice blend of creamy oatmeal though.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2004 Original Rate - June 29, 2004: Nice black color with a tan head.Aroma is a little dim, but hints at chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is good. It’s more like a porter than a stout. It certainly did not seem like a sweet stout. More chocolate, coffee, malt. Very, very thin body, probably the thinnest I’ve ever tasted for a stout. 6-4-8-4-16 Re-rate on cask - December 9th, 2004: The first main difference is the body. H2O on cask is incredibly smooth and creamy with just a gorgeous head. The taste picked up an amazing chocolate covered cherry surprise. Fantastic! 7-5-9-5-17

Had on tap at Town Hall in August 2009. Pours a dark black with a very nice brown head and a little bit of lacing. The smell is one of abundant roasted grains combined with bits of coffee and a few nibbles of chocolate. The oats work their way out as well. The taste brings the oats out a little bit more and also includes some mild bittering hops. The mouthfeel is very nice--medium-bodied and quite chewy. Very drinkable considering the style, and something I’d love to have a constant supple of as the leaves fall off the trees. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-01-2009

Opaque 95% black color. Runny, deep tan colored head. Toasty, almost burnt, barley malt aroma. Sweet, chocolately, creamy, stout flavor. Creamy, and smooth, but not too thick, so as to weigh one down too much. Warms, a little bit from the inside out, even at only 6.2%.

Jet black and oily. Roasty, dark vinous nose. Very sweet to the tongue, some robsutness late...rather light for style but eminently drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub. Haha, this is listed as "Black H20" when it should be "Black H2O." Epic listing fail. Trying to drink a molecule made of 20 hydrogen atoms would totally suck. Very dark brown with a lasting tan head and some good lacing. Roasty coffee aroma with a hint of anise, very full and balanced. Excellent flavor, with dark chocolate, anise, roastiness, and coffee. A damn tasty beer from a brewery that makes some great stouts in my experience. Dry on the mouthfeel, but paradoxically has a good oatmeal smoothness to it. Really solid overall - this and Masala Mama were the best in the classic sampler.
