COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

My buddy, on first taste, exclaimed 'a watery Malt-O-Meal'. Though slightly watery, there were some nice bold flavors here, coffee-like especially. It kept a nice head as well. This brewery tends to overcarbonation, IMHO, but produces very drinkable, uncomplex versions of the style. Same here.

Light, choclatey sweet aroma. Loads of chocolate flavor, quite sweet. No traces of roast. A bit vinious. Rich, but a bit sweet for my tastes.

On tap. Molasses aroma. Dark brown opaque. Malty, chocolaty flavors. Sweet and light for a stout. Creamy mouthfeel. Good.

Draft on 8/2/07. Near black pour. Grainy malts and oats, but much dryer than I expected. I really couldn’t taste much of the oatmeal creaminess that I was expecting. Just a regular stout dryness. Maybe my palate was shot by this time. Probably should re-rate on my next trip.

On tap @ brewery. Black water...the name someone matches my experience. Appearance is ebony with just the slightest splinters of mahogany around the edges when held to the light. Tight and creamy latte head produced a number of small ringlets. Flavor and aroma of burnt malt, cocoa, coffee, oat, and vanilla. Also has a slightly lactic/sour quality. Palate is surprisingly thin...a bit more body would have improved this significantly.

Opaque 95% black color. Runny, deep tan colored head. Toasty, almost burnt, barley malt aroma. Sweet, chocolately, creamy, stout flavor. Creamy, and smooth, but not too thick, so as to weigh one down too much. Warms, a little bit from the inside out, even at only 6.2%.

growler shared by godofthunder. Nice roasted malt aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. Pours dark brown black with a thin tan head. Smooth dark flavors, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, hints of coffee and vanilla. Very smooth. Nice.

On tap at the brew pub...Pours black with a medium tan head that rises a finger and stays a decent amount of time. Thick lacing...A decent aroma of sweet chocolate, roasy and the oatmeal comes through nicely. Could be a bit stronger and more roasty to really get me excited...The taste is on the sweet side, needs more roast to balance it out more. Light hops on the back give some balance, just not enough. Worth trying but nothing special.

On tap at Town Hall. Pours a black color with white head. Oatmeal, chocolate, roasty flavors. Good.
