On tap at brewpub during RBSG planning meeting. Pours an opaque near black brew with a thick and creamy dark tan head. Nice spotty lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, oatmeal, dark chocolate and a touch of coffee. Taste is medium body, a little acidic, some bitterness in the finish. Palate is smooth and a little watery. RBSG 2007 Pub Crawl - on draft at the brewpub. Black with a brown head. Coffee and chocolate nose, some toffee. Solid choco-coffee flavor, rather dry. Nice! jsquire (4425) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUL 5, 2007
Out of a sampler at Town Hall during 07 RBSG. Very dark beer with a thin foamy brown head. Aroma of darkly roasted grains and ripe plums. Tons of roast grains, almost smokey with ash, vanilla, chocolate and juicy fruits. Nice mouthfeel. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 26, 2008
Aroma was of roasted malts, you could smell the slight chocolate sweetness, atste was smooth slight chocolate and coffee with a nice touch of dark chocolate sweetness, smooth yet a little on the thin side. On tap, at brewpub. Flat black pour with a creamy brown head that had decent retention. The nose is big coffee and oatmeal with dark chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is nicely bitter and roasty with the coffee coming out on the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. Dries out on the finish nicely. Smooth and creamy mouth feel with just a touch of fizziness. Very nice beer.

Pours an opaque black with a thin brown head. Aroma very much of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Tastes very roasty with more chocolate, coffee, caramel, nuts, licorice, and vanilla. Medium bodied with low carbonation levels. Very good overall. nuplastikk (6224) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 13, 2010
Draft at Town Hall. Deep black-brown, with a long lasting rusty orange head. Sweet mossy, malty chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate and oatmeal tones. Quite smooth and mellow. Does the style right. nickd717 (4648) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 28, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Haha, this is listed as "Black H20" when it should be "Black H2O." Epic listing fail. Trying to drink a molecule made of 20 hydrogen atoms would totally suck. Very dark brown with a lasting tan head and some good lacing. Roasty coffee aroma with a hint of anise, very full and balanced. Excellent flavor, with dark chocolate, anise, roastiness, and coffee. A damn tasty beer from a brewery that makes some great stouts in my experience. Dry on the mouthfeel, but paradoxically has a good oatmeal smoothness to it. Really solid overall - this and Masala Mama were the best in the classic sampler. ryanfolty (2540) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - JAN 26, 2013
January 26, 2013 on tap at brewery. Dark pour with nice head. Roasty, oats and sweet in taste and aroma. Love me some oatmeal stouts and this was very good. valpoaj (742) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - JUL 27, 2013
tap pour at brewery. black pour with a thick tan head..aroma is what you would probably expect...roasted malt, sweet chocolate, oatmeal notes, hint of something burnt...melds together nicely. flavor is very forward with the same...chocolate and roasted malt, a slight lactic note, oatmeal...good stuff though, and this would stand out in a row of oatmeal stouts IMO. palate is chewy and thick, but not overly so. good beverage, this one exceeded my expectations.
