Brown color very similar to the Lightning storm I just tried. bitter hop nose with nutty caramel cutting through - the description did not disappoint. Refreshing bitter nut caramel body. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - FEB 12, 2007
the beer is a clear copper color, topped by an inch or so of dense but smooth and creamy tan foam. Good head retention, fantastic lacing - thick like paint on the sides of the glass from start to finish. Mildly hoppy with some sweetish malt in the aroma - I think the thick head of foam may inhibit the aroma somewhat. I tried a second pint (and a third), got the same results...
Nice tasting beer, starting out with a mild caramel malt and a floral hoppiness that was more bitter than I usually find with floral hopping. A drier toasted biscuit malt came out in the finish, I really enjoyed that.
Medium bodied, fully but not exceptionally carbonated, and oh so smoooth. pinkzambia (1931) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 2, 2006
Tap at brewpub:Clear brown colro with an aroma of wet cardboard, pears, sucking on old-fashioned hard candy and horse blankets. The taste was British bitter along wit a real farm quality - stables, horses and hay. What the hay! 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 2, 2006
Growler. Thanks Chuck. The beer pours to a ruddy copper body with a thin white head. The aroma is grassy silage. The flavor is sweet cookies, caramel, nice spicy/peppery hops. The palate is nicely textured, medium-bodied, smooth. A great ESB. JCapriotti (1379) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 27, 2006
Dusty copper body, thin creamy head. Dry slightly grainy malt with soap on top. Swirling in the snifter yields cheese and diaper. Interesting flavor. Lightly sweetened candy hops and grass. I got a hint of hopped licorice at the end. Very nice balance with slight lean towards the hops.

Growler. Hazy brown body with a small tan head. Nutty-caramel sweet aroma. Lots of walnutiness in the flavor alongside cherry and tart caramel malt fruitiness. The flavor wraps up with some dry Englishy hops. A nice fruity ESB. Stine (1779) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 21, 2006
A decent bitter. Strong malty aroma with caramel and wood, lots of crystal malt. Some fruity hop bitterness. Turns out to be solidly unnoticeable. heykevin (1281) - Decorah, Iowa, USA - FEB 15, 2006
Growler. Deep reddish gold. Soft crackery aroma, malty with touch of wine in the aroma. Attractive malty flavor, soft in the mouth. Background bittering. Rich crystal malt undertones. Good stuff for sure, and emminently sessionable. Now if I only had tried it on cask when I stopped by this weekend... MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 12, 2005
light yellowish color w/ a small fairly well laced head. Smells a touch of light carmel and those euro yeasts. Tastes lightly of carmel and honey w/ some grass.. nothing special really but solid. MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2005
Clear auburn with a thin, creamy off-white head. Chocolate-cocoa nose with some smoke, quite nice. Flavor is woody with caramel and cocoa, hops at the end.
