Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, toffee, dark cocoa, roasted malt into a bit of sweet chocolate, some slight smoke into a bit of earth. Taste was a mix of earth, dark fruit, toffee into some dark chocolate, sweet milk chocolate, hints of red fruits, finishing sweet, slightly roasted. That1Guy (2237) - Colorado, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Part of a flight at the taproom. Dark pour. Wasn’t quite sure what to make of this brew. Never had anything quite like it. Like roasty chocolate-covered cherries. Very, very original. sherm1016 (1274) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 14, 2013
On draft at the brew pub. Pours a jet black color with a tan head. Aroma is malty, roasty, chocolate. Heavy on the palate with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet, chocolate, light coffee, some fruity cherry, a little smokey, with a malty, chocolate finish. Very tasty. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Growler from mattyb83, thanks Matt! Pours a black body with a slight ruby hue around the edges. Finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is richly malted with lots of dark chocolates, a light molasses, a few dark fruits with some cherries sticking out, a nice roast, and a light earth. I’m also getting a bit of a cinnamon note the more I get through this growler. Flavor is similar. Lots of dark chocolates, caramels, a light molasses, and a light cherry dark fruit throughout. Solid roast backing that picks it up a touch at the end before this finishes rich and sweet, but fairly dry and pleasantly roasty with a medium-light earthy bitterness and a light cinnamon spice. A slight alcohol warmth before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-full, very smooth body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty special Baltic Porter. Malt forward and sweet, but not overly so. Well balanced with a nice roast, light spice, and light earthiness as well as just a slight alcohol note. Love the subtle cherry dark fruitiness throughout too. Very clean, easy drinking, and highly enjoyable. Excellent. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JAN 5, 2013
(growler) Pours black with ruby edges and a large tan head that lasts awhile and leaves good lacing. Aroma has abundant roasted malt, light roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and some dark fruit, which smells somewhat like prune. Further warming reveals some lightly burnt graham cracker and an earthy scent that somewhat resembles lentils. Flavor holds plenty of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee before finishing with a nice, even roast that lingers well on after drinking. Surprised by how dry and roasty this is, as I was anticipating some dark fruit presence. (with further warming, some blackberry does appear, and it’s quite nice) ABV is not really detectable save for a bit of warmth after drinking. Carb is appropriate and mouthfeel is medium. Overall this is a solid baltic porter, and I agree with DalzAle that this is priced very well.

Tap. Rich dark black pour, little carbonation and earthy peat, and dark roasted malt aroma. Flavor was nice strong dark malt, rich dark plums and stone fruit and some nice sweetness throughout and a little bit of noticeable alcohol. Really damn tasty and extremely well priced for a growler. Tap at the brewpub. Very dark pour with a clingy cream head. Full aroma and flavor - smoke, sweet caramel, sweet cherries, and malt forward. Excellent. badgerben (5285) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Dark brown color with a small head. Aroma of molasses, light smoke and some sweet malts. Strong chocolate and roasted barley flavor. Light whisky and vanilla notes, even though it’s not barrel aged. Full bodied. Awesome.
