Pours black with a thin head that lasts. Moderate cherry aroma with hints of roast malt. Moderate cherry flavor with hints of roast malt. Medium-light body. I wouldn’t call this a black lager, but it’s good. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Pour is dark reddish black with thin off white head on tap at the brewery. Aroma brings notes of cherry, roasted malt, some cracker, biscuit, hints of coffee, and more cherry. Taste is a really nice black lager for the first half second and then its blasted by lots and lots of cherry that is a bit sweet, and slightly cloying. I have a bias as lots of cherry reminds me of medicine, but overall this is a well made brew and would like to try the base beer. badgerben (5327) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Black color with a medium head. Chocolate and light coffee aroma. Very strong cherry flavor. Moderately chocolatey. Strongish coffee given the cherry content. Everything mingled very well. Delicious! XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Had a nice dark color with minimal head, had a soft cherry scent. Big bold cherry flavor with a sourness that i didnt care for much. nsquishee (641) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - DEC 24, 2011
Pints poured from a growler.
- Aroma: Cherries and whole grain bread
- Appearance: Very dark brown with a slight reddish hue peeking out from the bottom of the pint glass.
- Taste: Medium sourness and medium sweetness finishing in heavy tartness.
- Palate: Light/medium body, average carbonation, and a slightly tannic and bitter finish (from the cherries).
Lasting cocoa and tart cherry flavors present on the tongue minutes after a sip. Quite pleasant for a holiday beer that won’t fill you up too quickly. Surprisingly sessionable if you so choose.

Draft. Poured into a pint glass a dark brown/black color with a slight tan head. Pretty clean aroma. Slight dark roast and dark cherries, these don’t smell like the bright red cherries but rather the dark almost purple ones if that makes any sense at all. Dark cherry right off the bat with both sweetness and slight tartness. Clean and crisp with a medium mouthfeel. Ends with a slight roastiness. Overall, pretty decent. Some lacing.
