COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name pretty much describes the beer. "Hefe" meaning "with yeast" and "weizen" meaning "wheat". Our version used approximately 60% wheat malt in addition to the 40% malted barley. The result is a light, slightly tart ale that’s hazy in appearance. The perfect beer to quench your summer thirst.

Drinking right now at the release. Very hazy orange pour, little carbonation and plenty of banana and clove aroma. Flavor was great! Orange, clove, banana and good and pleasant funky yeast on the finish. A nice welcome to the summer beer season. Surprised this one isn’t rated higher.

An alright beer. Pour is a light orange with no head. Aroma is a mixture of banana, cloves, yeast and wheat. Flavor is mainly the same of the aroma, balanced nicely. Not a huge fan of banana flavor. Palate is thin and yeasty aftertaste.

On draught at the brewpub near downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pours a hazy orange amber brew with a thick white head that slowly dissipates to a thin and creamy head. Aroma of light banana and yeast scents, a touch of cloves, and some white multi-grain malts with wheat. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with an average hefe style flavors of banana esters, cloves and a touch of bubble gum. Finish is semi-sweet, with a lingering banana and yeast aftertaste.

Tap: May ’06. Looking at these ratings, not sure what is going on. Cloudy orange, decent head, lacks for a hefe though. Huge banana aroma, tons of clove. Flavor much the same, straight forward banana an dclove. Nice chewy/yeasty character near the finish. Carbonation lacks a bit, but overall a very nice brew.

Tap pours hazy gold, short lived head, no lace. Aroma of spice and some hops. The flavor has standard clove banana and some hops with a nice refreshing palate. Pretty good.

[growler] shared by badgerben. Poured a cloudy gold with a largeish off white head. Not a whole lot of aroma, but some yeast and tartness from the wheat present. Flavor is wheaty, with banana and yeast. Mouthfeel is light and a little chalky with a dry finish.

Poured from a growler into a weizen glass. Poured a pretty nice hazy golden color with a soft, pillowy, white head. It left a nice lacing in the glass, with plenty visible carbonation bubbles rising to the glass, this one looked pretty tasty. Smell was of banana and clove, but I didn’t find it to be amazing. Taste does have some banana and lemon zest, but cloves mostly dominate this one. Pretty good, just could have been better. Medium bodied, high carbonation, fit in well with this one. Drinkability was ok, but for a weizen I think it could be better. Pretty good, I just expected more.

Stine (1794) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 3, 2007
Light color of golden kiwi, letting no light through. Somewhat milky in appearance. Aromas of vanilla ice cream with bananas, lavender hand soap and wet paper. Taut wheat taste is lively but not spicy – lacking along traditional lines. Slightly floral with citrus soda notes. Crisp but smooth palate. Refreshing to some degree, but failing to make up for its shortcomings. Needy, but passable.

Lots of wheat on the nose. Cloudy yellow body with a little head. Definitely a hefe with some bite.

Very hazy golden color with a thin white head. Smells faintly of banana and clove, bread yeast is in there too. A slight whiff of bubblegum. I taste a sweetness up front that is at the same time yeasty. Some spiciness and a bit of banana and citrus follow that. No bubblegum in the flavor. The mouthfeel is sharper and dryer than the aroma and flavor suggest.
