COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hope and King is a full-body brew and is rich in malt complexity. Brewed with both English and American barley and many, many specialty malts this deeply colored ale has hints of roasted chocolate, caramel and raisins with very little hop presence. Our interpretation of the classic ale that originated in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sample from tap at the brewpub. Pours nut brown and filtered. Off white head leaving a rim. Aroma is hardroasted malt. Flavour is dark roated malt almost with a touch of coffee, slight sweet. Not bitter at all, bitterness becomes appearent as the beer warms up. Enjoyable.

Decent, had a 5 oz pour. They really made a point not ot have hops in here, it is roasty, caramally, and rasiny, but it could have used a hint more smoke.

Very drinkable scotch, chocolate and caramel, atad on sweet side. Medium yellow with a minimum head and white lace so surprises in taste.Above average mouthfeel, satisfying. Above average for style. I was noticing the alcohol a bit, as if it was 8-9%.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured clear sunset orange with a near white head that dissipated to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma had notes of earthy grains, caramel, toffee and a hint of backing alcohol. Flavor started with earthy grains and was joined a light caramel note with a bit of underlying alcohol.

Draught at the Town Hall Brewery, Minneapolis, MN.
Clear dark copper color with no head. Sweet malt, wood, nuts and toffee. Although I like Scotland I’m not a big fan of Scotch Ale. However this is an example of a Scotch Ale I like quite a lot.
