after getting a taste test at winterfest I headed to town hall and picked up a growler of this.
pours a nice crystal clear faint color almost like a white wine or a mead or somewhere in between. nice pillowy white head not very thick and doesn’t stick around long. a bit darker and not quite as crystal clear as I have seen a pilsner but the unusually high hop presence probably left a little of that cloudiness.
smells wondefully of soft lemongrass, with small spicy hints, with very light touches of pine. a flowery almost honeylike smell swirls inbetween. I can tell there is bite but there is such a medley of sweet smells i’m excited.
tastes of soft citrus flavors and sweetness from the heavy doses of pilsner malts, it balances so nicely with these smoother hops. I can’t find any alcohol in here and its 9.6% ABV.
I get some apricot/mild pepper spice/hints of lemongrass. Great Pilsner
mouthfeel was crisp and refreshing. it was like a pilsner should be but with that extra soft bite of the noble hops.
drinkability was way too good. I actually ended up having almost the entire growler. it drank like a session pilsner but it had an IPA bite and plenty of undetectable alcohol.
I want this with a chicken lingiune, maybe one with some cajun influence to compliment the hops. A good lemon pepper chicken could do the same. could be great with whitefish cooked in a bag. it would play so nicely with lemon and pepper.
