hazy amber, whispy white head, drops of lace, spicy pepery hop aroma with a hint of fruit, light sweet malt flavor, plenty of the spicy hops to balance, nice pepper character, bready yeast character comes through,
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 14/20
Sampled from a growler on 11/8/06 courtesy of footbalm: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a frothy, nicely-lacing white head. Complex sweet Belgian malty aroma has good bready yeasty presence and spicy Saaz hoppy character. Body starts with a viscous sweet biscuity caramel maltiness and good complex Belgian yeastiness toward a more bitter crisp finish. A very unique and well done brew. UPDATED: MAR 21, 2007 This is very good. Of course they didn’t invent this fusion style, but they have pulled it off well. The aroma isn’t as full or flowery as the La Chouffe, but still good with some flowers, citrus, and hops. Dark, cloudy gold with a thick white head on top. Flavor is not as intense as I expected. Some hops, also fairly sweet with more fruit and malt. A thick beer, and the alcohol is well hidden. badgerben (5213) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 6, 2006
A lovely tulip of golden elixer with a pretty thick head of bubbly foam. Strong hop aroma and taste. The hops taste primarily like English and German/Czech hops, not the raging citrus cavalcade I usually find in IIPAs. A little out of balance perhaps (not much of a malt presence), but a pretty tasty anniversary ale. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - NOV 28, 2006
Growler: Poured a hazy glowing orange color with a small off-white head. The aroma was sweet and spicey. Notes of sugar and pears with a yeasty character mixed in. The flavor was sweet, yeasty, malty and spicey. Semi-dry finish with a moderately bitter finish.

Golden, motionless body, white head. Banana is ringing out for me, I can see pineapple. Sweet, emphatically so, killing any metal that you sometimes get with the Belgian + super hop experiments that have been going on. In fact, I didn’t even know what this beer was before I said to my friend (Jazz88), "this seems like one of those Hop-It style Belgian/hop blends"...and then he pointed out that that is exactly what they intended. Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden color with bubbly white head that left plenty of lace. Strong fruity aroma full of banana, clove, grape, and flowery hops. Lots of clove flavor accented by white wine, black pepper, and banana. Full bodied and very sweet on the tongue. 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 16, 2006
Thanks to footbalm for hand-bottling this one! The beer pours to a wimpy golden body with a creamy white head. The aroma is sweet candied pineapple and interesting malt/hops. The flavor is sweet pineapple, nice caramel malts, nice Belgian sugars. The palate is sugary with a nice light bitter hoppyness. Almost a little sweet for a IIPA, but quite nice nonetheless. amber golden color w/ a thick white head and some nice lacing. soft aroma lots of nice citrus notes and some light tropical fruits and carmels. Great thick palate lightly creamy. Flavor is a little hot in the finish after a tropical fruit flavor hints of strawberry a good amount of carmel and some warm alcohols. very good stuff. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - APR 23, 2007
