When brewer Josh returned from Portland,OR the idea of a beer came with him. "Rubicon Wheat Wine" was soon in the fermenter. This is our Wheat Wine created with 5 different wheats, grains from Germany, Belgium and America, raisons, grains of paradise, and three pounds of hops per barrel. After Rubicon matured, we liked the outcome and decided to bring in a fresh oak barrel from the Jack Daniels Distillery to age the beer. 5 months later bring us to present and we look forward to the release of just 1KEG of this fine Barrel Aged Belgian Wheat Wine.

Draft @ Brewpub. Deep orange-red pour with a white head. Aroma of apple skin, light spice, oak, yeast, coconut, and light pineapple. Flavors of oak, coconut, pineapple, and sweet caramel malt. Thick body, woody/dry/sweet with a dry finish. Neat stuff, Im glad I got to try it.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a transparent copper ruby with a thin frothy white head. Aroma of sweet rich caramel malt with a healthy dose of bourbon oak. Body starts with a full carbonation and thick, viscous wheaty malty sweetness before giving way to complex oaky bourbon that lasts through the finish with a touch of butterscotch. Nicely balanced and enjoyable brew with a touch of warmth.

Draft @ Brewpub: Murky mahogany, no head or lacing. Nose of bright fruit and melon, some alcohol. Lots of malt and sweet fruit, some citrusy hops, raisin and plenty of resinous fermented fruit and alcohol. Nice.

Im not the biggest fan of barrel beers, certainly not bourban barrell ones. This had a huge bourban nose and flavor to it, to much for me. Fairly stong alcohol burn as well. The 3oz sample was enough for me, glad to try it though.

On tap at Thall RBSG 07. A redish brown pour with a tan head and lace. A strong presence of abv and a bit of malt in the nose. A sweet beer with alot of abv. Some bitter. An almost mediciny taste. Mouthfeel is solid and carbonation is good. A good offering but a high abv that is not masked well. A trait that I think more aging would have done this beer some good.

Dark Amber Color. Wheat, Vinous, Syrupy Sweet Aroma. You Taste the Barrel and Alcohol Initially...Much Warming...Sweet, Syrupy...Lightly Crisped Bittersweet Aftertaste. Overall Quite Nice, Especially After Having Tried the Rubicon..Which Can Hold Its Own with This As Well.

A magenta hued amber pour. Simple, dense whiskey and port aroma, soaked into biscuits and caramel scones. Orange and honey blossoms on the tongue rather a forceful black licorice sweetness with a cough syrup bite. Cloying and medicinal in general, though certainly not to an offensive degree. Syrupy palate with just a hint of carbonation, lacking movement and clarity. A bit much.

Clear amber brown with a small (if any) head. Taste has that big alcohol burn with maple, vanilla and candi sugar. Mouthfeel and body is full with some dried fruit notes as well.
