UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Sampled at GABF! OMFG! This very well could be the most chocolate-infused beer I’ve ever had. Take a bar of Godiva chocolate, dip it in Hershey’s syrup, and dust it with Nestle Quik...ya might be close! Liquid coal pour produced a dark latte head that left significant lacing inside the glass. Aroma was intense bitter chocolate, vanilla, caramel, molasses, and dark fruit. Sweet but not overly so. Nice bitter ending to polish it off. Silky smooth mouthfeel...another world-class brew!!! BUMP!!! arminjewell (9581) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 30, 2009
Pours oily black with dark brown head, nose is explosive with chocolate and coffee with toffee notes. Taste is full of bitter chocolate and coffee and leads into a wonderful blend of dark fruit, and the palate is thick and creamy. Amazing imperial stout, how others should be! zizzybalubba (1860) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 16, 2013
Sampled at GABF 2013. Black pour with a rich tan head. Awesome aroma of chocolate and oatmeal cookie. Taste is of cocoa and dark fruit. Rich mouthfeel. Great beer! MrPickles (438) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 12, 2009
Sampled @ GTMW ’09 This is a VERY late and after the fact ratting, but I have to put this on the list. It was one of the tops of the day. Tast and aroma is everything I love in a good brew. Sweet chotolate, milk, vanilla, raisin and bourbon. Everything mixed well and every bit of it was fantastic. I only hope to get some more of this sometime sooner than later. Had this at the 2012 Great American Beer Fest in Denver, Colorado. One of my favorite beers of the festival, had outstanding chocolate/bourbon like flavors.

On tap September 28, 2013 at ABR. Black pour with a tan head. Chocolate explosion, wow this was amazing. Best new beer to me at the event by quite a bit. TH killed it at ABR this year. 1600th rating for me. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 15, 2009
Jet black huge tan head w/ great lacing. Sweet rich aroma lots of chocolate & roast malt notes, a very sweet imperial stout. Full well coated creamy palate. Awesome IS rich creamy roasty malty milk chocolates lactose, well blended w/ a hint of alcohol. I loved this! esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 16, 2009
On tap at the GTMW. My favorite beer at the fest! Dark brown with a creamy brown head that leaves some creamy lace on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, dark roasted malt, milk sugar and sweet malt. Taste is right in line with the aroma as the deep dark chocolate and milk sugar mix with roasted sweet malt to provide a delightful concoction. Some alcohol creeps in and a little roasted malt bitterness as well. I will be heading out to Minny to check this brewpub out sometime in the near future! potbeerjob (1343) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 21, 2011
I am updating a very backed up beer pad dating back a whole year. This was, as I noted, my favorite beer of GABF 2010. I wrote, "the baddest beer on the planet. Nuts and earth the whole way! dark chocolate taste, berries everywhere. So awesome. Roast, caramel, vanilla, burnt, BOOM!" As you can tell I was excited and can’t wait to drink this one again. daknole (11044) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Big black pour at GABF. Aroma is big and bold, loads of chocolate, hints of coffee, some roast. Flavor is sweet and rich, big and chocolatey heaven!
