4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
...or as I like to call it, 6PA...6 hops, 6 malts, 6 hop additions, for Town Hall's 6th Anniversary, a pattern they plan to continue, year after year, for who knows how long...Perhaps at the 25th Anniversary, it'l be a trifle too much.
Lovely, hazy orange color, with a fluffy white head atop..and considerable spider-webby lace-leaving....the aroma, a thing of wonder!!! 6 hops, I didn't ask which ones, they didn't tell, but it's a buzzing hornet's hive of hoppiness up in here, with no order, none taking turns or keeping in a single file line...no, it's a mess of hops and malt, each proclaiming their voice at whatever interval they see fit... a beer cacophany, but one brimming with flavor, body, and exuberance!
I had one last night at the anniversary party, and one just tonight. It's amazing stuff. Said tavenjef, "Would you give it a 5 or 4.5 for taste?" Honest, I hadn't thought about it..."either one," I said, but now that I've had another, and have had time to reflect, gee, can a pale ale be any more vibrant and exciting than this one? If it were bottled, it would cause a regular sensation, I assure you!
Pine, grapefruit, and more in the nose..softly and assuredly complex on the palate, aside from the onslaught of hoppiness...spongy texture, earthy, gritty, grabby...there's several dozen things happening at once, or so it feels...the malt & hops leap out. joust, parry, dodge, then lays down and luxuriates on the palate...hops jump up and poke about the roof of the mouth, stick their sensations all around the palate...Jeezum X. Crow, this is a humdinger if there ever was one!!!
I described this to someone afterwards, and he was non-plussed..."If it's so good, why would they only make it once?", he asked...because, little man, just..because....

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very west coast. Light brown, heavily hopped. Crisp and refreshing. Medium bodied. By far the best American pale ale I have had. Became better as it warmed.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
A specially brewed pale for the 6 year anniversary with six varieties of hops and malts - Color is a nice darker amber clearish syrup hue with a small bone white head that fades to a ring and spotty lace. Smell has a nice hoppy blast of pine, grapefruit, and fresh floral hop cone aroma. Highly sweet but softly tingling piney nose which is really nice and some hints of toasty malts. Taste is all hops with bouncing flavors all over the place. Lots of bitterness and sweetness playing back and forth on the palette but the pineyness is high with a nice floral character. Smooth malt backing thats toasty and adding to the heft of bittering sweetness but keeping balance enough as not to overwhelm. Feel is quite full and loaded with incrediable hoppyness. This was a damn good pale but took forever to finish due to the overly hopped character. A pure pleasure to engagingly sip, very yummy and complex. Quite a monster pale if I ever met one. Can't wait til next year where they promise seven varieties of hops and malts. Wow!
