JW77 with a nice growler. Orangish pour. Light head. Lots of hops in the nose, floral and some resin. Flavor is also very hoppy, this pale isn’t for the faint of heart. Good caramel malt balance with notes of honey. Nice pale. damn nice. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 18, 2009
Growler, courtesy tytoanderso. Pours a very lightly hazy, medium orange-amber hue. A small, foamy, off-white head settles in to a thin layer, spots and flares of lacing dotting the glass. The nose shows a light, crisp grain malt base with hints of toffee sweetness and toasted bread. Floral, citrus blossom hops balance the aroma out perfectly. Flavors are equally well structured, simple and fresh with lightly sweet toffee and moderate, floral hop bitterness. Smooth and easy going, the moderate palate suits this brew well. Just a tasty, perfectly balanced, simple pale ale. Good stuff. islay (2634) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 16, 2009
16 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub on 9-13-09. German hops smell. Sharp, tangy, clean, and slightly yeasty smell. Good, strong, solid, continental aroma. Pours a clear gold with a small amount of nearly white head. Good lacing. Sweet malts really come through in the flavor: Sweet corn, powdered sugar. A touch of lemon. German hops appear mostly in the finish. Subtle taste. Cool, unique, dry aftertaste with a lingering sweet twist, like Starburst-flavored chalk. Light to medium body. Lively. Pretty good palate. I tried this immediately after Columbus Pale Ale. Tradition Pale Ale isn’t as good, but it was an interesting contrast. badgerben (5108) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 9, 2009
Cask. Clear copper color with a medium head. Light floral hop and honey aroma. Definitely sweet honey and grain flavor up front. Seems quite fruity, perhaps a bit of banana. The floral bitterness comes in towards the end and stops this from being a sweet Amber. Enjoyable. kidmartinek (4999) - austin, Texas, USA - AUG 30, 2009
Strong golden color with a heavy white head that has a yellow tint to it. Clean very light hoppy aroma. Strong, sweet, slightly musty malty flavor. this beer has a unique tart, sharp sweetness that doesn’t surface until the finish. Truly a complex beer, and you should enjoy it for that reason and that reason alone. Good hoppy bite. This beer is on the border of good, full flavor, while still being refreshing. A pleasant aftertaste, and as always with MTH, good lacing.
