COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We intended to make a traditional English-style barleywine. Then Mike found a local maple syrup producer and we topped off with just a touch of smoked malt . . . finishing with a very Twisted Reality.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a near clear muddy brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice note of bourbon and vanilla with caramel sweet grains and a touch of grass underlying. Flavor has more sweet grain and grass but the same nice vanilla bourbon combination supporting.

Keg @ Town Ball. Deep chestnut colored pour with a small head. Nose is rich, quite malty. Apple pie, toasted grain. Light pepper. Mellow booze. Butterscotch. Flavor is really well balanced. Sweet, earthy, a little hot. Chewy caramel malt. Baked apples. A touch of dark chocolate. Lovely stuff. Full bodied, smooth and supple.

A really good barley wine. You get notes of the maple with toffee, and sweet grains. Smoke comes through in the aroma too. It’s nice and warm as it goes down. Sweet maple, and booze. Very nice.

Draft at TH. virtually no aroma. Dark copper body. Sweet and strong. Really nice. Warming, which isn’t so great when it’s 102 and humid out. But fantastic.

On tap at town hall. Find going on with the nose of this. Solid notes of caramel and toffee. A little on the sweet side. You can tell this is a little on the boozy side. Absolutely great nose. Dark red/caramel pour with a nice beige head. Starts out sweet and then finishes full any long with some booziness on the end. I love this beer. Just as much as its BA counterpart if not more. I would recommend this to any barley wine fan

Glad I finally got to try the base, and I can see why I like the barrel aged version so much. Dark reddish ruby pour with nice creamy tan head on tap at the brewery, aroma brought big deep notes of dark fruits, lots of sweet maple, caramel and toffee notes, some bittering earthy and smoky notes as well, really nice and complex. Taste has a bit of heat but nothing overwhelming, a slight grassy note comes into sweet toffee, caramel, maple notes with a nice cocoa, earth and smoke notes. Very, very nicely done.

Date: February 12, 2012 Mode: Draft Source: Town Hall Description: Light brown pour with some head and nice lacing. Malty, hoppy and alcohol in the aroma. Taste was similar with slight bitter finish. Very nice barley wine that was not overly sweet as some can be.

growler... really good looking beer brown with amber, creamy tan head... the aroma and taste are all hops, this beer is totally out of balance, my senses are overwhelmed, a bit of caramel tries to help, but expectations but feel flat

Poured on-tap at Town Hall into a 10oz TH snifter. A. Pours a deep hazy red, a nice 1 finger head that resides at a nice ring with amazingly thick lacing, really beautiful. S. Smells of sweet grapes, wheat, mild hops with a roasted barley finish. T. Tastes of nice heavy wheat, heavy grain, sweet grapes and some strong rye. M. Medium thick body, very chewy and thick, medium-high carbonation. O. A very good beer. Super easy to drink and very smooth. Hides it’s 10.4% very well under an amazingly well rounded taste. It really does change as it sits on your tongue.

Murky brown with some red in there. A little sweeter nose with not a ton of hop presence. Syrup and caramel in the nose with some fruit booze also. Flavor follows a little sweet, not very hoppy, overall a little to sweet but still a nice syrupy barleywine!
