3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Served in a Town Hall cervoise. Pretty oaky and a bit oxidized. Some sweetness and heavy malt character. Medium body with a bit of alcohol.
Sampled, rating from backlog notes. Pours a dark amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, vanilla, dark fruits, a hint of earth and peat, barrel character, Jack Daniels comes through, some oak, some sweetness, I would like to see this one again. budznsudz (584) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - JUL 7, 2014
Dirty brown pour with a well retained white head. Aroma really had me nervous that this was infected. There was a sour vinegar smell on top of light caramel notes. Thankfully the taste is much better. Caramel, whiskey, tobacco, and a hint of over-ripe fruit define the taste. Pretty good beer. anders37 (27621) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 7, 2014
Bottle @ RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours a clear deep amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty woody spicy caramel aroma. Sweetish malty woody spicy vanilla and caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty woody spicy vanilla and caramel finish. jcnielsen (3416) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Sampled at Grand Tasting during RBSG. Pours a golden color with white head. Bourbon, oak, caramel aromas. Bourbon, vanilla, oak flavors. Slight boozy. Frank (4258) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 25, 2014
This is a clear red brown color, with an off-white head of fine bubbles. It has a vanilla nose w/ some cherry and coconut as well--pretty typical whiskey barrel stuff. It is sweet, thick and syrupy. There is a decent oxidized sherry character here but also an ugly bit of vegetable bitterness and some alcoholic harshness. It smell all right but the flavor flaws are too much to overlook in this one.

Offering shared at RateBeer Grand Tasting 2014 (St. Louis, MO). Pours a deeper brownish hue, darker middle with more glow on the edges. Frothy tannish head is a nice layer, mellow lacing. Aromas are sweet and sticky, caramel and oak meet some spirit, richer stone fruit, gentle marmalade. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a bit toasty, decent barrel, some carmelization and toast. Mellow vanillin, middle is vanilla, a bit of creaminess hit the backend. Some toast, carmelized elements. A bit more body with gentle sweeter malts, toffee and caramel. Some biscuit and mellow sweetness. Red fruit, vanillla, and oak taper out. A bit hot up front but still shows some healthy base into the backend. Not bad Homer321 (5248) - Melboring, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2014

On tap at the brewery, dark brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of oak, whiskey and alcohol. Taste is some vanilla, light caramel, alcohol tingles on the tongue, it's alright.
