Bottle from Queens Plaza Beer & Wine 070316. This is a big strong lively beer packed full of flavour. Long strong finish that goes on and on. My favourite Townshend beer so far. floydian1 (1524) - FNQ, Australia, - NOV 8, 2015
500ml bottle (2015 vintage). Deep coppery- brown with an off white head that stabilises to a firm film and decent lace. Nose and palate is caramel malty and fruity (plums, cherries, figs) with some spiciness and a cake-like richness. A slight spicy alcoholic warmth to the end. Earthy and fruity hop presence. Liked this one.

2015 version, 7.8%. Amber with a coat of cream head. Aroma of caramel fudge, grass, hazelnuts, vanilla, white pepper, hints of other spices like galangal, cardamon. A bit lighter bodied than expected and perhaps less sweet too. But delightful almost milky texture with low carbonation. Layers of caramel, some nuts, spices. Moderate but insistent bitterness. Lovely beer. gam (4155) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 21, 2015

Alluring aroma of fruit and grass in a dark brown liquid. Flavours is surprisingly laid-back and manages to totally hide its strength. Sample was from an aged keg (vintage 2013) and I can’t see how it got anything but better for it.

Pour from a bottle in Franz Josef. Now this is an enjoyable beer. Belgian-strong-ale style and Nelson hopiness. k0mpsa (3233) - Tuusula, FINLAND - JAN 24, 2014
Handpump at pomeroys, christchurch. Dark reddish brown, small white head. Aroma is sweet notes, wood, earth, raisin. Smooth palate, wood, alcohol, sweetness. buzz_and_hum (153) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 17, 2013
I have to admit it, English Strong Ales are really my thing at the moment. And this does the business. Served in one of Hashigo Zake’s lovely tulip glasses, the rich aroma of chocolate and port kept me just inhaling for minutes before taking my first sip. Full and sweet in the mouth, lovely toffee flavour leading to a rich sticky-sweet port-like finish, the hops doing just enough to leave a linger delicious aftertaste. Very very nice. Handpump at Pomeroy’s, at the lovely company of Travlr and Jimthechap. I’m not a fan of the colour of summer tidepool, but I love the vast range of fruits, malts and nutiness in the flavour. Had this beer a thicker body, it would be an instant favourite. Travlr (26938) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 14, 2013
Cask handpull at Omeroys. Hazy dark reddish brown color, bright tan edge head. Aroma of nutella on toast. Taste is watery caramel, toast, subtle peppermint. Decent. Needs more body. Add rye?
