On tap at Brother’s Beer. Pours brown gold. Biscuit, apple, pear, orange. Bit too malty, not sure what the fresh hops bring. DylansDad (646) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 30, 2013
Agree with LisaGirl and Omega below. However if I was to rate this beer on the first few mouthfuls (which were great) it’d be Aroma: 8 App: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 18 or so, giving a total of 4.2. It WAS that good. Unfortunately, it didn’t last, and the beer went from truly great to ’merely’ quite decent in a flash. But ’quite decent’ still means it’s way better than most. I happily drank the whole bottle. omega (900) - NEW ZEALAND - JUN 11, 2013
Pours a nice generous dark brown and is nice malty nose with hints of underlying hops. Little flat on the palate, but overall quite drinkable. lisagirl (264) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 29, 2013
the good: initial aroma is fantastic, preominated by passionfruit with other tropical fruits behind. the palate could have been light but it turns out like velvet, wonderfully smooth. not so good: flavour disappears almost immediately, making this rather muted. only a very slight bitterness remains. ups and downs here, but according to my glass this is the fastest ive drank a beer in a long time, so there must be something to like. UPDATED: MAY 10, 2013 First and foremost, this smells glorious. The fresh hopping of this beer has really worked a treat. Wonderful aromas of passionfruit, tropical fruit salad, lemon peel, grapefruit... getting the picture? It is a good looking beer too. Lush amber with a good carpet of white head that sat and stayed. It got every benefit from hand-pulling. The flavour reflects the aromas well and it tastes somehow... wet. I don’t know how he’s done it, but Mr Townshend take a bow. Good lingering bitterness too. A truly good effort.
This is a re-rate almost a year to the day after the first entry I made for this beer. I tasted this off handpull from Pom’s in Chch. it is everything it was before. It is all the more remarkable for following an 8 Wired ale and being streets ahead of it. All the flavours and aromas are there from the last year’s brew and better, and so my 4/5 rating has become 4.2. Outstanding work. Simply outstanding.
