The head brewers mother comes from Hall in Tirol, Austria, so this top fermented, cloudy Bavarian ale is a small tribute to one of the most wonderful people in the world. True to style, it contains 50% malted wheat and uses a yeast strain imported fromWeihenstephan, Germany,

A shocker if youre expecting a wheat beer, which is how thy describe it. What you get is no aroma, no cloudy, no taste and a bit of fizz. I wish itd been better I had hight hopes

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2017 An inviting fruity aroma and a nicely balanced light fruit/sour flavour makes for a very refreshing beer - albeit maybe not quite to style in the end.

The only low point is the aroma, with little banana or bubble gum, some cloves and lots of skunkiness. It is a bad start, but it only gets better. Unusual mix of oranges, apples, canteloupe and some grass into the traditional flavour of a Weizen Bier. It is a detour from the style, but far from being a desecration, as I believe Martin is a devout follower of his own Reinheitsgebot. Carbonation is ok, and the beer has a nice head, although Id prefer a bit cloudier on the light golden body.

Nice. Lovely golden colour with lots of attractive cloudiness (hey, I like that touch). Butterscotch and bread-dough on the nose, not as much banana as Id expect; but that comes when it fills the mouth nicely on the taste. Thisd be a good one for a summer afternoon session, moderate alcohol, refreshing, interesting without being obnoxious.

Bottle. The pour begins a pale golden, but then a big pile of chalky sediment falls in at the end, causing a chalky cloudiness. The white head is small and short lived. Aromas are of banana, lemon, and yeasty spices. Quite light, medium carbonation lends a soft mouthfeel. Estery banana fruit and a slightly tart finish. Low spiciness. Not bad, but needs some tweeking I think.

First of all the colour was a beautiful yellow gold, just perfect. You could see the nautral carbonation in this beer, but there was no head on it whatsoever. As this is a hallmark of most wheatbeers, I felt a little bit cheated, especially on what was quite an expensive pint. Big wheatbeer-typical flavours of bubblegum, bananas, cloves and nutmeg. I look forward to seeing another installation of this beer in future.

Bottle. It is very cloudy! A light gold with thin but creamy white head. A spicy yeast aroma with citrus tang. Light mouthtfeel, not too much of the yeasty flavours I would expect from a Hefe. The finish has a bit more spice and dryness though. Drinks easy, but lacks punch.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very cloudy, pale golden with a white, lacing head. Classic, yeasty aroma with cloves and coriander. The body is a little too light to be a genuine German Hefe, but the flavours of banana, yeast etc. are certainly there. Theres a light, underlying acidity and some phenols. The finish is dry. Not too bad. 300108
