A decent smelling amber lager. really not that bad of an amber. Next to the bock, the best of the TJ beers I’ve had. A nice blend of malts and hops. MaBeer1972 (2091) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUL 31, 2006
This is a superb brew from a decent brewer, but at the wonderful Trader Joe’s Discount price ($5.99 / six pack). Lovely medium body, toasty throughout. Clean finish. One of my favorite styles! Let the malts rule! heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUL 20, 2006
The body is a medium oramge and has a thick slightly yellow colored head. The aroma had some sweet pancakes along with some caramel. This is sweet smelling, even for the style. The taste has some light caramel along with oced tea. There is also a bit of carrots in the finish. A nice light brew. This is a little thin and weak for the style, but good for summer time. rybowen (105) - Los Angeles 90039, California, USA - JUL 11, 2006

12oz bottle pours copper with a tall creamy offwhite head that stayed pretty well and laced the sides of the glass well. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, a touch of brown sugar, and a touch of roasted malts. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel malts, but there is also a touch of brown sugar there as well. Palate is smooth creamy and quite drinkable. This was the best of the 4 TJ beers I tried yesterday. Reminded me a lot of Elliot Ness from Great Lakes.. soulrefugee (46) - Illinois, USA - MAY 19, 2006
Well, I don’t know what a Vienna lager is supposed to taste like but bought it based on its statement of having a "smooth malty flavor", which is a type of flavor I like in beer. I found it very enjoyable, and feel that it does have a smooth malty flavor with just a little hops in there for some zing. It seems rich, and it seems to have some character to it, but it is not at all expensive. It does remind me somewhat of the european Marzen style which I’ve enjoyed before, but found to be a little overbearing. This trader joe’s vienna lager works fine for me for sure. tsarman (794) - Northern, New Jersey, USA - MAY 2, 2006
I think this was a very good vienna lager. Has a decent balance with some subtle malty sweetness. Terminus (3689) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 1, 2006
12oz bottle-lite copper with a 1/2 inch soapy tight carbonation head. aroma of german funk, light toasted grain astringentcy and a note of sourness. infection? flavors are overly sour with lots of grainy notes. body is thin and watery with not solid feeling to it. long metallic and grainy finish. run of the mill vienna lager. bitter (1136) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - APR 19, 2006
pours copper brown with a frothy off white head. subtle nose of earthen malt, sweetness. flavors follow nose with caramel light sweetness slight bittering end. a light version of gordon biersch marzen.
