12 ounce bottle - $1.00 at Trader Joe’s in Roswell, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a clear, deep amber-orange body with an inch of ivory-toned foam.
Smell: Sweet-scented, moderately fruity nose, smelling of honey, light caramel, and leafy hops overlaying delicately toasted, grainy baked goods.
Taste: Sweet, sugar-toned maltiness of caramel and honey-brushed coarse bread and biscuits. Slight baked apple fruitiness. A late-arriving hint of grainy Pils malt. Spicy, minimally earthy hops with a little bit of balancing bitterness. The grainy Pils malt grows a smidge bolder as this warms. Finishes drying, crispish
Mouthfeel: Medium-light bodied. Medium carbonation. Very slight stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A dollar won’t get you much these days, but what it will get you is a decent, sweet, cost-effective brew for these tough, bitter times. mobrew (19) - Oregon, USA - MAR 1, 2005
Nice darker amber in color, with a nice mix of malts to give it a sweet taste. I think this will make an excellent warm weather beverage. At this price from Joes, why would anyone want to buy Buttweiser??? OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - MAY 29, 2006
12oz bottle pours copper with a tall creamy offwhite head that stayed pretty well and laced the sides of the glass well. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, a touch of brown sugar, and a touch of roasted malts. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel malts, but there is also a touch of brown sugar there as well. Palate is smooth creamy and quite drinkable. This was the best of the 4 TJ beers I tried yesterday. Reminded me a lot of Elliot Ness from Great Lakes.. Not bad. decaturstevo (6240) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAY 13, 2009
Aroma of rich caramelly malt with just a hint of earthy hops. A copper pour with very light white head and lace. Sweet malty flavor a hint of abv and a very subtle bitter. A bit overly carbonated for me. But pretty nice. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2011
12oz bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a crystal clear, amber-orange colored body with a finger-width, foamy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is malty sweet with some caramels and toasty bread. A touch of clean yeast with a light floral fruit and earthy hop. Flavor is pretty solid. Caramel with a light sweetness, toasty bread, floral fruits, a light grain, and a nice grassy hopping that dries this with a light bitterness and a touch of malty sweetness. Medium length aftertaste following a very smooth, light-medium, clean body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice Vienna. Solid flavor, very easy drinking, and well balanced. A nice surprise.
