Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of FlacoAlto. Pourss a hazy amber golden with tiny impurities and an off-white head. Spicy, gingery nose. Quite full-bodied, a little low in carbonation with sweetish overripe fruit and a spicy edge. Rather alcoholic finish. 291208 mcberko (17900) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 26, 2012
750mL bottle, pours a hazy dark amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma is quite subtle, some bubblegum and Belgian candied sugar. Flavour is fruitier than the 2006, with dark fruits upfront, some brown sugar, caramel, and more dark fruits. Lower carbonation for Unibroue, with the fruitier tones upfront and very complex. This has a stronger flavour profile than the 2006, and like the 2006, this has not suffered at all from age. Excellent stuff.

A: The pour is a dark caramel color with a short lived off-white head.
S: This one also smells super vinous with lots of sweet, white grapes. There’s quite a bit of booze, too. Lots of cardboard and a high carbonation that sort of stings the nose. Perhaps a touch of herbs.
T: The flavor is reminiscent of a sparkling wine. A sort of buttery chardonnay flavor to go with the cardboard and mild herbal character. A really high carbonation to it that gives it a somewhat acidic feel.
M: The body is medium with a very high level of carbonation.
D: Not quite as good as the 2005, but certainly better than the 2006. Still don’t think I’d really be interested in having this one again. bhensonb (15253) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 23, 2008
Aromas of yeast, mild dark fruits, vanillan, and a hint of funky earth. Dark brown in color with a tan head that was respectable, hung around and laced a little. Medium to full bodied with creamy, almost chewy, carbonation. The flavor starts with spice, floral notes, and moves on to chocolate and lightly roasted malts. Also some treacle. The finish is balanced with sweet malt and bitter. It is not so smooth as the 2005, but give it a couple of years. Really good value. Excellent ale. UPDATED: JAN 11, 2008 Bottle from Cincy store. Poured hazy dark brown color with a large light brown creamy head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Good malty, fruit and spice aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Full complex fruit and sweet malty flavor with a long fizzy finish with a small alcohol tone. Good brew at a fair price. I got three bottles to age for the next three years. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - APR 6, 2008

A dark hazy brown ale with a thin receeding light moka head. A wonderful sweet prunes, honey, herbal hops and orange peels in aroma. In mouth, a good nutty spiced malt with coriander, and classy Unibroue yeast. Medium bodied. Tasted Nov. 2008.
