Yet another excellent unibroue beer. Tons of bubbliness and a good flavor that isn’t too sweet at all. The only redeeming part of the day as my fantasy team got crushed. thetmaxx (917) - West Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Poured from the bottle I got at Christmas. Aroma is like a Belgium quad, but with an extra pepper or ginger. Flavour shows these more. Poured real dark which seemed odd for the flavor but it’s really good. Nice head and lacing. ephman86 (1) - - NOV 11, 2013 does not count
I am almost positive that this is the same as Fin Du Monde which sells on the same shelf for twice the price...this is a great value in my book this year badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - OCT 30, 2012
Bottle from TJs Berkeley. Black with a fluffy off white head. Cola citrus nutmeg cinnamon and allspice aroma. Lively silky but slightly sticky palate. Tastes of chocolate and light orange followed by hazelnut cola and Ginger bread and finishing with hot cinnamon and alcohol and with lingering sweet spice notes. Very good. 550mL bottle. Dark chestnut color, translucent, medium head fades off gradually, no lacing. Aroma is of undissolved yeast, basement aromas, and spices. Taste is strong, alcohol, sweetness, malts and a little spicy. Great mouthfeel, full...Great value. Trader Joe’s phones in their beer to unibroue, and it’s awesome. I’m going to buy 5 or 6 and age them!

750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a long lasting, thick, beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is of funky yeast, caramel malt, brown sugar, spices and hops. Body is full and smooth. Funky yeast, caramel malt, brown sugar, spices, dark fruit and hops fill the mouth. Finish is long and very spicy. Very nice, delicious brew. skoll (420) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - NOV 16, 2012
The aroma is of dark fruit and spices. The beer pours an opaque dark brown, with a giant, out of control light tan head. Very nice flavor, with dark fruit, spice, and a hint of roast. The alcohol is very well hidden, and there’s a nice lingering finish of spices. It was my first experience with TJ beer and I gat one I wish I would have bought more. UPDATED: DEC 24, 2013 Poured from big bottle. Vanilla, strawberry, banana in aroma. Dark mahogany with foamy tan head. I taste vanilla, plum, banana, bread, various spices (nutmeg, pepper) Alcohol is noticed, but is secondary. Maybe just me but I detect a touch of milk chocolate. Great drinkability - maybe too good. A great, just short of outstanding brew. I will take the advice of other ratebeerians and age my remaining bottles a bit.
Update 12/2013 - Just has the last bottle that was aged for almost a year. Definite improvements in palate and taste. Worth the wait. monk191 (2023) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 31, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2012 Very good, and different the other years. Creamier, and smoother. Pours a thick black with a heavy brown head. Not too much smell, a hint of roasted nuts. That’s the only category where it falls short. Taste is great, best year we’ve had so far. Smooth, less carbonated, and milder. Tastes like we expect an aged 2009 to be. Not as much alcohol overtones either. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone RedSox2004 (1928) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Opaque, dark muddy brown with a frothy tan head, solid retention and ok lace. Yeasty aromas with black cherry, plum, brown sugar, Grandma’s candy dish, and spices. Cherry and plum fruit sweetness is accompanied by clove-like spice and caramel malt. Pepper kick in the finish. Medium to full bodied, lively carbonation, creamy smooth mouthfeel, and a delicately sweet finish. There are a lot of holiday releases I look forward to - SN Celebration, Anchor, Alesmith - but this Unibroue/TJ is consistently outstanding.
