Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Aromas of dough, caramel, hint of chocolate. Taste is sweet, with light sourness. Beachmaster (556) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 10, 2014
22 oz bomber. Pours a deep mahogany color with a big off-white head that slowly fades. Nose is dark fruit and caramel. Taste is full-bodied with toffee and plum notes. Just delicious. Another winner from Unibroue. RedSox2004 (1890) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - NOV 16, 2013
Seems very similar to what I remember from last year. Dark brown with mahogany/ruby highlights, big frothy tan head, excellent retention and nice lacing. Dark fruit aromas up front - black cherry, plum, fig - with brown sugar, Grandma’s candy dish, Belgian yeast and spices. Cola and dark fruit sweetness is accompanied by clove-like spice and caramel malt. Pepper kick in the finish. Full bodied, lively carbonation, creamy smooth mouthfeel, and a delicately sweet finish. I would believe it if you told me this was the 2012 version - enhanced by a somewhat smoother and creamier palate, almost like it’s been aged for a year. Hmm. An aroma of sweet pear, lots of nutmeg, and coffee. Almost black, dark brown color with a big light brown head and some beautiful lace. Taste is acidic and sweet like apple juice with big pear flavor followed by nutmeg and minor hop bitterness on the end. Palate is very nice, fizzy anf mouth filling, but at the same time a little bit watery. Overall, a very good beer, we will be getting a few more of these! Poured from big bottle. Aroma of molasses, raisin and other dried fruit. Porter color with light tan head. Big flavors of molasses, citrus, oak, raisin, cinnamon, touch of nutmeg and clove, honey. Alcohol blends nicely with the flavors. Pepper notes. Excellent beer.

I’m enjoying this one. Less sweetness than the 2012. Pours dark with an impressive head. Nice spice flavors. Easy drinking for a 9% abv. A bit too carbonated. Aging for a while would smooth it out. I will be going back for a few bottles to age for a couple of years. QuezXLV (423) - Virginia, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Almost a black color. Lots of white bubbly suds. Heavy on te palate and intense malts with a pleasant sweetness. Nice job tj's!

A pretty standard Belgian strong from Unibroue. Sweet, a bit chewy. A lot of Unibroues beers are starting to taste the same to me. Chadski4 (170) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 9, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2014 Strong spicy aromas with prune and plum notes. Very dark coffee color with a thick, never-dissipating, moussey tan head. Very sweet fruity flavors with noticeable alcohol. Light bodied. Veeks (65) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 11, 2014
Great quality with an amazing price of 6$ a bottle comparable to a quad like Chimay...deep dark fruit notes...yummy
