I really enjoyed this beer. In glass is a dark red beer with a beige head, and adequate carbonation. The aroma has caramel, bread, and strong coffee notes, the taste is clear, with a medium body, not too much of the malt is felt, and that is the only bad thing. At the end the hops flavor is strong, and persistent, like an IPA should be. johndoughty (5521) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2003
Bridge of Allan continues to produce original and interesting beers not just bottled versions of bog standard bitters.
This one is in the traditional Scotish 80/ style-not as much body as I would prefer but a nice subtle smokey taste. Quite malty and rather drinkable. cgarvieuk (25700) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 29, 2008
Bottle at home ... Deep brown ... very fruity nose quite nice ... rounded fruity malts well balanced... little hop in back ... Oh this is going down well. petexner (936) - CZECH REPUBLIC - AUG 10, 2012

From the brewery, Scotland.
Dark amber - brown with off-white head. Aroma of malt and some smoke. Flavor is balanced sweet from caramel and malt with fruit tones and a roast finish and medium bitterness. Best I’ve had from BOA.

Quite a nice beer! Pours a lovely ruby body, head dissipates quickly. Lovely soft malty/bready aroma. Tastes quite creamy. This is a really sessionable IPA style beer... not too hard or too soft, just right! Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - JUN 1, 2011
1 June 2011, bottle. dark amber, clear some bubbles. nice red fruit nose and a surprising alcohol and hop aroma. med body and mildly fizzy. flavour is not as grand. biting sweet nutty amber ale. some lingering bitter grassy hops. nice. jamesie1857 (1975) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 21, 2012
500ml bottle - a clear ruby body with a thick foamy head which is lasting quite a while. A floral nose with some grass and sweetness there. The first taste is sweet, but goes into a bitter toffee-cum-caramel taste. Kinda oily and moderate carbonation, with a malty aftertaste. Not too bad, would possibly try again if I saw it. olliejobbins (1578) - Dorking, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2013
500ml bottle. dark copper colour. aroma is smoky and slightly hoppy. taste was very interesting (as was aroma) and i was confused. says it’s an IPA on the bottle. categorised on here as a bitter. but it was extremely smoky and complex unlike a normal bitter. not sure how i would categorise it but it tasted great. just not what i expected. mahkus (136) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - MAR 8, 2015
Bottle from morrisons. Quite dark in colour. Nutty, malty aroma and taste. Not like an IPA.
