3.5
mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
[4969-20121123] Ceramic bottle. Smoky wood aroma has a strange poopy note. Clear, dark amber body with medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Smoked toasted grainy malt flavour. Medium body. Tasty and enjoyable, which is surprising. (6/4/7+/3/15) 3.5

Radek Kliber (7501) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JAN 25, 2013
Aroma: coffee , dry roast , slight woody notes , hint of licorice decently rounded.
Look: hazed dark brown with lighter beige top. 3+
Taste/Palate: medium bodied , softer feel. Touch of ash , woody feel , slight nutty elements. Cognac feel is there , balanced that is part of base beer. Good.

bdettweiler (57) - KITCHENER, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 16, 2012
Poured from ceramic swing top bottle a very dark brown - almost black with a thick but quickly subsiding beige head leaving behind thick lacing. Aroma of coffee, mocha and smoky wood. Medium bodied, slightly syrupy and almost flat. Taste is sweet, sour and bitter, none really standing out until the finish with sourness fading slower than other elements. Oak and mocha dominate the flavours with some caramel. Overall, not bad, but not exactly impressive either.

3.2
Tessic (1249) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2012
This porter poured a deep amber colour with a soapy head. To the nose there are scents of brandy, rum, cocoa and caramel. First sip was thin and a little watery with flavours of coffee, brandy, caramel and roast. Finish is roasty with light flavours of brandy and a little smoke. Slightly bitter palate.

asheft (3125) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 16, 2013
[bottle at BJCP study session] Faintly oaky vanilla aroma with some butterscotch and chocolate and sour, fruity hops. Clear, ruby-black under tan wisps and a ring. Chocolate flavour fades quicly to mineral water and sour hops. Low bitterness. Clean finish, thin, moderate to medium carbonation.

Boutip (6620) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle: Poured a clear dark color porter with a large dirty white foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of light dry roasted malt with some light sweet notes and very subtle cognac notes. Taste is a mix between light dry roasted notes with light residual sugar notes and a vanilla and liquor. Body is indeed too thin for style with medium carbonation. Not as bad as expected but not as great either.

jercraigs (11071) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2012
2012-11-23. Black body with a small tan head. 3+ Dry dusty roast, modest alcohol. Very dry flavour, dusty roast, odd, strangely earthy quality to the roast. Average bodied palate is thin for a porter. It is actually much better than expected, but it was very much not to my own tastes today. Bottle shared by Tupalev
