2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
650ml bottle Pours dark with a big tan head. In the light, it looks dark brown with brownish red highlights in the light. Aroma is earthy, kind of sweet hops. In the mouth it’s quite malty with a astringent hop bitterness in the end. Not exactly impressive there...reminds me of all the half attempts at creating a real IPA that were happening in Ontario several years ago before we had lots of great ones. Now that that’s the case, this one is obsolete. It’s fairly thin and watery too...low carbonation. Not much going on for me. I don’t know...whatever.
A clear brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, floral hops, surranated. In mouth, a bitter chocolate with resinous floral hops, surprisingly nice considering it’s 2years old. Bottle at OttBottleShare July 2014. MarkoR (959) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 15, 2012
650 ml bottle from LCBO. A dark brown beer with light tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus. Taste of carmael, hops. Nice. DuffMan (10728) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 6, 2012
Bottle, shared with Robbie. Very dark brown, rapidly vanishing head. Aroma is more melon than citrus for me, and is starting to turn phenolic, with plastic undertones that show up even more on the palate. Too underhopped and thin to be classed as an IPA. We’ve shared three Trafalger bombers today, and this was by far the worst. fonefan (51593) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 1, 2012

Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dusty, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle - 660ml. Opaque black body with average carbonation and a thin off-white foamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with roasted cereals and woody hints. Decent hoppy taste carries grainy and coffeeish notes. Ends with a good bitter/roasty finish. Average BIPA.

Bottle, 66 cl. Reddish brown with a small but stable cappucino colored head. Quite malty aroma for the style, lots of caramel, butterscotch even, toasted rather roasted, some flowery hops. Taste is light watery, dark malty, medium bitter light citrusy hop finish. Not a real black IPA.
