No colouring agents or artificial additives are used in this ancient Lett family recipe. The robust amber colour comes from the judicial use of crystal and carastan malts. Remember the ancient brewery credo, "We only sell what we can't drink ourselves."

Can from sample pack. Pours a copper brown color, with firm head. I get a nutty aroma somehow. Medium bitter to it, with an oily character with a bitter like finish. Not so much to say really , average experience.

Rather simplistic look to it with barely any head. Soft malt character with a vague hint of hops on the back end. Easy to drink but hard to remember.

Ruddy red pour with foamy head of white foam leaving sticky lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, corn syrup, raisins and some minor hops. Slightly sour taste, followed by syrupy sweetness, yeasty notes and musty hops. Nothing to come back to here. Best part was the can design.

[bottle] Weak aroma of rancid onions and maybe a a little hay. Not clear dark gold under a lacy, white cover. Decidedly not red. Flavour is mostly bitter hops with maybe a little bit of base malt. Notes of onions. Really not delicious. Light body, medium carbonation, lingering unpleasant bitter finish.

Light malty caramel nose, poured light red with small and quickly descending head. Light-bodied and very boring, little bittering hops noticeable, another let-down from Trafalgar.

473ml can. Pours copper brown with a frothy white head that dissipates fairly quickly into a thin white cap with speckled lacing. Aroma of hops, malt, mild roasted notes, slight bit of fruit. reminds me of a dank, dusty cell really. taste is medium sweet lightly bitter and slightly sour. palate is sticky and oily with weak carbonation. Overall this was very generic and overpriced. I got it in an OCB taster pack. Would not buy on its own.

Can. Aroma is floral and hoppy, nutty caramel. Smooth mouthfeel. Sweet and nutty. Not bad. Nothing really special going on though.

April 30 2012. 473ml can pours dark brownish yellow odd looking colour. 1 inch white head lingers a bit and leaves sticky lacing. Aroma is some malt more grassy than sweet. Taste is rather bland. Light sweetness no real flavours stand out. Whole experience was over and forgotten in minutes. No aftertaste just dry wanting.

Meh. Irish Reds can be a revelation, a surprise lurking in that liquid. This just lets you down. Sweet, not enough complexity. Looked alright though. Id take this over dog urine any day of the week.
