Pours a deep dark brown. Aromas of roasted malts, smoke, and hints of fruit. Flavors of the roasted malts, some fruit, with a coffee aftertaste.

Draught @ Falcon Tavern - Poured a dk brown with a small tan head...aroma is malt forward with notes of toast...flavour follows, malt bomb with a wonderful balance of roasted grain, slight bitterness and bread...not a killer, but a pleasant surprise... douglas88 (9789) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 17, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2008 On cask at the Front Door. Pours a dark murky brown with a small beige head. A light roasted malt dominates the nose. The flavor is mostly shovels of dirt, wood, and some chocolate perhaps. The body was very thin, and it was fairly watery, but this is still a good beer. Seemed to me to be really natural, like something we should be drinking around the campfire. jarspag (601) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 24, 2008
On tap at the brewery next to steak and mashed potatoes. This was their best beer I sampled. A nice transition of flavors from sip to finish. Lots of caramel malt in the flavor. Thick palate - enjoyable all around especially considering the food choice. jake65 (4033) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - OCT 9, 2007
On Cask at Trail Creek in Ketchum: Pours a murky reddish brown with a large, creamy beige head. Tons of thick lacing. Nose is woody and earthy, some roasted malt tones. Tastes of caramel malts, woody, earthy, and just a hint of dark fruits. Nice dunkel.

Hazy dark brown with a creamy light tan head. Blocky sticky lacing. Lightly roasted aroma. Woody malty flavor slightly sweet and a creamy feel. Softly carbonated. Nice. pinkzambia (2111) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 22, 2007
Tap at Trail Creek Pub in Ketchum, ID: Brown with no head. It has a tiny roasted malt aroma with toasty flavors of nuts. The flavor is well balanced and I found it to be quite enjoyable. BückDich (5477) - McCall, Idaho, USA - DEC 11, 2005
Draught @ Trail Creek Pub in Ketchum, ID
Dark chestnut cherry color. Clean, nice sticky head. Nose is lightly roasty with some light malt esters. Watery body and a light raisiny flavor. Good but lacking a pronounced character.
