Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange color with a small, creamy off-white head. Notes of fruit, grass, pale malts, straw, dough, and crackers. Very mild hop character. Very malty, though. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation. Not bad. jandd1983 (4317) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 13, 2011
It poured an orange/rose color with a thin white head. The aroma was somewhat fruity with some sweet malt notes. The flavor was fruity, malty and some honey. Strykzone (7351) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 7, 2009
Sampled at Heritage Festival. A nice amber color with a decent light tan head and good lacing. Aroma is also pleasant and full of maltiness. Flavor was a bit disappointing. Some chemical and soap didn’t help at all. Also noted were rye, malt, and alcohol. wxman (1819) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - JUN 6, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2017 Sampled at the St Louis Brewers Heritage Festival 2009. Clear reddish gold color with a malty and spicy aroma. Taste is sweet pale malt and caramel. Alcohol barely noticable. A pretty good maibock. Sampled again at Microfest 2017. Taste profile remains the same, but I believe the balance and flavors have improved. Dogbrick (13003) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 18, 2009
On draught at the brewpub. This beer is a clear orange-amber color with a thin and wispy white head that disappears quickly. Thin strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is fruity with sweet malt notes. Light body with flavors of sweet fruit, malt and honey. The finish is sweet and fruity and does not linger long aside from a slightly medicinal fruit aftertaste. Just average overall.

Draught at the brewpub. Sweet, malty aroma, honeyish, lightly toasty, floral and fruity, some faint pear notes. Clear medium-dark copper color, head is almost fully subsiding. Flavor features hints of licorice, more honeyish and toasty, grainy malts, a light-moderate amount of hop bitterness and spicy hop flavor, while on the finish, tinges of alcohol come to the fore, lightly medicinal and surprisingly apparent for the style. More honeyed pear and white grape late. Body is medium-full but mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, seems under-carbonated, even. Strong and fairly bitter rendition of the style, ultimately. smoosh (536) - New Albany, Indiana, USA - MAY 23, 2006
Draft - medium gold with a touch of amber - much like Pilsener Urquell. Off white head. Very fruity flavor. Somewhat malty. It’s okay, but just not quite there.
