On draught at the brewery as part of a sampler. Deep brown with minimal brown head. Wow - this is very thin and then hits you with a harsh roast. This is not really stout like at all (except the spike of roast). No creaminess and no noticeable hops or bittness. Rough. voyageurmike (437) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2014
Named a stout, dubiously. Dark opaque brown with a tan head, poured at brewpub. Watery, not creamy as I would look for. Bitter but mercifully brief finish. Don’t order a stout at this place and expect it to taste familiar. Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - JAN 9, 2014
1/9/2014. On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with a beige head. Roasted malt aromas with come chocolate, but very thin and watery. Flavors almost non-existent. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - NOV 29, 2013

Nice dark black w a hint of tan head. Quite sweet, would love to try this fermented longer. Hints of toffee. phaleslu (10271) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a deep, dark brown with a finger of dark tan head- very attractive. Notes of coffee, cream, dark chocolate, vanilla, and sugar. Once again, there is a base of something good here but it’s just too sweet. Medium-bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel with backing roast and mild carbonation. jandd1983 (4330) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Sampler at the brewpub. A dark body and somewhat heavy mouth feel. A generic roasted taste and hints of caramel and coffee.

Draft at the brewpub. Faint, roasty aroma, lightly coffeeish and vegetal. Flat-looking dark brown-black color, head is very slight. Flavor is also roasty, dry, ashy, even a bit charred, and somewhat tangy at the finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel for the style, body is light-medium. Meh. I didn’t finish the pint. On Tap at the brewpub- Dark brown with a decent tan head that faded slowly to a light lacing. Very faint aroma primarily of roasted malt.
Light coffee with a mild malt taste and very slight bitterness. Medium body but not the creamy texture I would expect from a stout. Another unoffensive brew from the Trailhead Brewery. Not a beer that I would go out of my way for. This seems to be a beer that blends well with a meal more than as a stand alone brew.
