On draught at the brewery as part of a sampler. Slightly hazy copper. Lots of smoked chestnut on this one. Not real to style, and maybe not intended based on the description, but not altogether bad. Had a harsh bite at the end. EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - MAR 29, 2015
Sampled at Lupulin 2015. Pours red with an off white head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and caramel. Taste is very pleasant with caramel, malt and hops. This was a nice surprise. Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - JAN 9, 2014

Tap - fair size foamy head, dark amber color, sweet caramel malty aroma and flavor - nothing special, but not bad gregwilsonstl (2526) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Dark red...almost brown. No head. Malty but not sweet. Medium body. Ok, but not memorable. phaleslu (10329) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours an attractive, clear copper-amber color with a small eggshell white head. Notes of lightly toasted malts, grassy hops, leaves, and a little bit of caramel or brown sugar. Light-bodied, with modest carbonation. Not much going on in this one, but not bad. Bif (2259) - St. Charles, Missouri, USA - APR 19, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Served an amber color with a decent head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with just a hint of hops, not much else. Taste is a muted roasted malt flavor with a mold bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly light body, smooth with mild carbonation. Lacks character. Another non-offensive beer from Trailhead.

aroma is well nutty malt character, pleasant and up front. savory, round and fruity, darkened nectarine, grilled pit fruit. impressive. appearance is translucent darkened copper with active carb and floating island head, nice bubbly ring. flavor is malt forward with same nutty malt character on the attack and tinges of perhaps pine or other general bitterness coming late as reinforcement. still hints of malt extract here but far from the really bar beers ive tried from this brewer.
