rbrazell (1763) - Florida, USA - JAN 10, 2012
Pours a very dark clear mahogany color with a thin white head that fades fast. Nose is molasses, raisins & berries, sugary caramel malts and very similar to a quad. Flavor is light cardboard, sweet malts, chocolate and some dark fruitiness. Slight alcohol present and a sweet syrupy finish. Not too bad.

thornecb (6058) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Dark caramel and maple aromas. Sweet peat and dark caramel upfront turning to hot in the lasting finish.

brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 28, 2011
Pours an opaque dark amber color with a finger of frothy off-white head. Intense aroma of dark fruits and caramel to this one. Some plums and almost vinous red wine notes to it. It’s also got an almost woody character to it. The flavor is sweet, but not overly so. A bit woody and vinous, maybe even tannic. Heavy flavors of plum and fruit skins. Dark sugar and molasses are also prominent. Medium to full body with low carbonation.

Den här ölen trevlig och kraftig med mycket kaffe och choklad i smaken. Efter en stund kunde jag även känna toner av fruktighet och syrlighet titta fram.

abcfan (928) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 15, 2011
Pours reddish brown with no head and very little lace. Significant fruit and raisin aroma is present. Taste is sticky sweet with dark fruit present. Very smooth on the tongue. Finish is short, but sugary sweet. Great brew.

BeerBaboon (2125) - FINLAND - DEC 12, 2011
Red brown beer with almost no head at all. Aroma is raisins, fruits and toffee. Flavour is fruit, raisins, sweetness and a little bit of alcohol. Very, very nice.

11.2oz bottle from Pinch poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly cloudy, dark brown with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of caramel, sugar, dark fruit and a little smoke. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. A lot more sugar and caramel than fruit in the taste. Full bodied with a thick texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I would love to try this one when 2020 rolls around.

MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Gift from Doug Jameson. Bottle from Total Wine. Nice, clean reddish brown pour with a solid lacing and thin head. A strong, raisin, caramel malt and alcohol aroma. A well-balabced taste of dark fruit, caramel malts, toffee and molasses. A mild cognac taste. An Outstanding barley wine.

jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 30, 2011
11.2oz bottle in a snifter. Pours dark brown with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of roasted malts, some bread, caramel, and cereal, floral hops, and hints of chocolate and alcohol. Flavor about the same with a strong malt profile. Texture is smooth, but I wish it was thicker. A really good beer.
