Clear dark woody brown with an amazing off-white, light cream-colored head. Great retention. Nice malty aroma, though quite faint considering the abv. The flavor is pretty simple to be honest. Not much going on, and some definite soy character, which is my least favorite quality in a beer. Overall: I am disappointed. I LOVE all of the other Traquair stuff I have had, and this bottle was fucking expensive. Oh well.

Opened this bottle last night to celebrate Amys birthday. Picked these up from West Lakeview, Capones, and Ricks. Ill give them each an assist. Served in a Hill Farmstead wine glass. Pour yields a bronze brew with a bit of a garnet hue. Nice tan head sticks around for a bit and leaves a few legs on the side of the glass. The nose starts out with some dried plum and raisin plus a bit of molasses and brown-sugar sweetness. There is some sweet sherry there as well as it warms up. The flavor is mostly comprised of lingering dark fruits and cherry plus some sherry undertones along with a molasses-like sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium with low carbonation; there is no booze but the finish is a bit too bitter, almost tannic. Drinkability was pretty good. Not super impressed with this one right now (although I had high expectations). Well see what its like in a few years. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-08-2011

Pours an opaque dark amber color with a finger of frothy off-white head. Intense aroma of dark fruits and caramel to this one. Some plums and almost vinous red wine notes to it. Its also got an almost woody character to it. The flavor is sweet, but not overly so. A bit woody and vinous, maybe even tannic. Heavy flavors of plum and fruit skins. Dark sugar and molasses are also prominent. Medium to full body with low carbonation.

33 cl bottle @ Kahdet Kasvot as Traquair 2010. Rated on 11.12.2010
Aroma is sweet with somewhat harsh malt and ripe fruits. Flavour is rather malty and somewhat harsh with some ripe fruits, raisins and plums. A typical English Barley Wine.

330 ml bottle @ Pub Kultainen Apina. BBE April 2020.
Pours a dark reddish brown colour with a minimal white head on the edges. A bit lacy. Aroma of fruits, toffee and slightly toasted malts. Flavour of caramel malts, oak, syrup and dried fruits. Medium bodied, slick/oily mouthfeel. Bit watery and thin, but alcohol is very well hidden here.
