COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

An odd inclusion at a recent tasting of winter beers, as it’s more a scotch ale than a winter. Still, a very good beer - despite the high content, not overly alcohol-y in taste. Very balanced and quite drinkable.

Nutty and sweet aroma. Clear, dark amber pour. Grape, molasses, heavy malt and roasted barley balanced by hops result in a mild sweetness. Full-bodied with a long, sticky finish. Good.

Prett dissapointing beer from one fo my favourite breweries. I love jacobite and 900. This however is not nearly in the same league. Thin watery and lacking the charactr and balance fo their other offerings.

Beautiful floral, yeasty aroma. Surprisingly light mouthfeel with flavors of bread dough, Coca Cola, shortbread cookies, and au jus. Finishes a little thin, but this beer is all about the aroma.

Bottle. Like the label, seems so...eloquent. Dried fruits, cream, vanilla and chocolate fill the beer up from the nose to the mouth. A nice beer.

Thebullshornbar (74) - Florida, USA - APR 17, 2014
This is a richly balanced ale. With notes of toffee, caramel, raisins and banana bread being complimented with light woodsy tannins and earthy, almost dusty, hop bitterness.

Typical scottish ale, except this one is overpriced and not near as flavorful as it should be. Definetly tastes better as it warms. Very watered down and weak tasting.
