An odd inclusion at a recent tasting of winter beers, as it’s more a scotch ale than a winter. Still, a very good beer - despite the high content, not overly alcohol-y in taste. Very balanced and quite drinkable. greedycheater (80) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 16, 2008
Nutty and sweet aroma. Clear, dark amber pour. Grape, molasses, heavy malt and roasted barley balanced by hops result in a mild sweetness. Full-bodied with a long, sticky finish. Good. vadersnightcap (80) - SCOTLAND - AUG 18, 2007
Prett dissapointing beer from one fo my favourite breweries.
I love jacobite and 900. This however is not nearly in the same league.
Thin watery and lacking the charactr and balance fo their other offerings. HumbertHumbert (77) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 28, 2006
Beautiful floral, yeasty aroma. Surprisingly light mouthfeel with flavors of bread dough, Coca Cola, shortbread cookies, and au jus. Finishes a little thin, but this beer is all about the aroma. sfhc21 (74) - Midlothian, Texas, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Bottle. Like the label, seems so...eloquent. Dried fruits, cream, vanilla and chocolate fill the beer up from the nose to the mouth. A nice beer.

This is a richly balanced ale. With notes of toffee, caramel, raisins and banana bread being complimented with light woodsy tannins and earthy, almost dusty, hop bitterness. dlclark (73) - Bloomington, Illinois, USA - SEP 9, 2003
Typical scottish ale, except this one is overpriced and not near as flavorful as it should be. Definetly tastes better as it warms. Very watered down and weak tasting. dingol66 (72) - Brescia, ITALY - OCT 19, 2010
