Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Excelente cerveja. Tem uma linda cor castanho avermelhado, aromas de cacau e café, também presentes no paladar. Corpo longo. Encorpada. No final é possível notar o sabor de licor de cacau, mas não muito forte.

Bottle. Smell of over ripe fruit, alcohol. Somewhat harh on the nose. Dark brown app. with little head. Tastes of roasted malt, goes from a mild sweetness to a medium bitter. Medium body. Over rated somewhat? I wouldnt seek this again.

Bottiglia.

Bottle. Dark brown with a nice beige head. Rich aroma of malt, vanilla, plums. Malt, licorice and a light fruit flavor. Slight peat and alcohol. Finishes medium dry.

boredatwerk (21) - Chester, New Jersey, USA - AUG 30, 2006
Deep chestnut color, moderate head with good condition. Barley wine nose with hints of licorice, roast malts, alcohol. Roast malt and coffee in the mouth and a good level of hoppiness. Dry, roasty finish.
