COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The traditional brewing process used in the production of Traquair House Ale consists of the following; 1. Traditional infusion mashing process. The wort is then drawn off and boiled during which process the hops are added. 2. The wort is now cooled and pitched with top fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is then transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Keeper (255) - Milano, ITALY - MAY 27, 2011
bottle, 033. Deep brown with gentle carbonation and tight head. Coffe hops and chocolate in aroma. Note: stranissima inglese: molta schiuma ed molti aromi sprigionati all’olfatto..sembra l’anello di congiungione tra belgio e uk.

Bottled. A dark chestnut colored beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, dusty hops, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, spices, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry almost woody finish.

Dark brown body, thin now you see it now you don’t foam. Some earthiness, sweet malt alcohol and medium bitterness. Even the Scots can brew a decent English Strong Ale.

Bottle (330 ml). Dark copper with a medium diminishing beige and and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, bread, wood, dark fruits. Taste is sweet, malt/caramel, bread, roasted malt, salty, dark fruit, peated notes and slight bitter finish. Mouthfeel is oily and leaves the mouth dry. There’s some of brandy’s characteristics (and aftertaste) in this beer. Interesting.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours clear dark brown with a pale beige head. Aroma of raisins, malt and caramel with hints of alcohol, wood and roastiness. Sweet and slightly reminiscent of fortified wine. Quite desserty, but well balanced. Nice beer for the colder months.

Pours a clear dark amber/garnet with a full antique lace head. Good retention and lacing. Earthy brown bread aroma. Smooth and delicious. Sweet roasted malt with an ever so slight bitter hop bite. Buttery roasted nuts also noted in the taste. This is a great traditional Scottish ale, nothing pretentious but very good at it.
