3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark fermented fruit with caramel, whiskey, and alcohol on nose. Taste is similar with oak cask and vanilla notes and a touch of cola. No hop presence except for bittering hops at the finish, which is woody and slightly tart(?) and leaves a dry feeling on the tongue and a bad breath aftertaste.

I got this in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!
It's been years since I had this:
It pours from 11.2oz bottle a dark brown that has a lot of reddish colour when held up to the light. Small and quickly disappearing head of foam with very little lacing.
The smell is very nice. Lots of dark fruit, caramel malt, fig, and some alcohol and butterscotch.
The taste is firstly dark fruit with plum and fig followed by some caramel malt and a bit of citrus that adds just a bit of tartness and bitterness for balance. Nice. The dark fruit is really ruling it and pretty much dominates the flavour several sips in and the alcohol is very well hidden with just some warming after the swallow. One fine sipper I have here. The mouthfeel is medium to medium full and it's lightly carbonated. Man, I wish I knew why I haven't bought it the times I made my visits to Colorado because I'm *really* enjoying the hell out of it. Highly recommended! j.hi (29) - - OCT 9, 2017
Clear light amber, attractive. Few bubbles. Smells like European ale. Soft smooth bubbly taste. Long finish with increasing ale coating on tongue. Ales are not my favorite beer but this is pretty drinkable. I’d order in Scotland!

From old tasting notes. Bottle from the 1980’s. Brew 179; Bottle # 267634. Barely translucent burgundy red color with a small creamy brown head. Superb roasted malt aroma with a mildly complex vinous, sweetish character. Intense roasted malt flavor with a rich semisweet background. Finish becomes tart and fruity with a hint of dryness. Delicious, long, pleasing subtle Malty aftertaste. Rich, full bodied and well rounded. A classic.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark red-brown with a medium, fluffy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, overripe fruit and oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, overripe fruit, licorice, vanilla, light roast and oak with a dry, bitter, alcohol warming finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Not very good. Pours a nice deep Amber color with a thin white head. Smells of sweet, maraschino cherry. Taste is far too malty right off the bat, with lots of sweet cherry, and cough syrup in the finish. Had in the bottle.

. 33l bottle @Bomb. Pours dark mahogany brown with low head. Aroma is nuts, caramel, brown sugar, dark malts and brown sugar. Flavor is mostly same but some syrup and alcohol notes. Swell!
