COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The famous Bear Gates guarding the approach to Traquair House, near Pebbles, have been closed since 1745 - when the last person to pass through them was Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Now, 250 years later, the ancient Traquair Brew House celebrates the Jacobite cause by producing this potent spiced ale to a traditional fine recipe. Sip slowly and remember the old toast to the "King O'er the Water."

330ml bottle from the LCBO. Dark pour, with a white head. Aroma of dried fruit reminds me of a dubbel. So does the flavour; sweetness and fruit. Nice, but not outstanding.

Brewhemia (242) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 7, 2016
Red/brown color with small off white head. Aroma of dates and prunes, overripe grapes, wood and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet (notes of raisins and prunes), light bitter and has a bitter and sour finish. Really nice depth in this beer. A bit too acidic in the finish Im afraid I think though.

Rich sweetness and spice. Like sugar coated licorice; choc, cardamom and coriander nose. Sleek but longish choc and caramel finish.
