VertBaconStrips (2402) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - JUN 2, 2009
Damn, this stuff is thick! You cannot see 1cm into the glass - it’s solid! Thick dark yellow going orange in colour with a super fat off white head and some average lacing. The aroma of the yeast is quite light and the banana odor is not overly strong. More like candied dried bananas. Actually, more like Banana Brown Cow Milk syrup. That’s not entirely a great thing. Almost forgot the underlying aroma of dirt. Taste is comprised of yeast and plently bananas with a sour touch. It’s quite refreshing out in the sun, but I’m not really a fan of the North American Hefe’s style. Mouthfeel is dry, dull, slightly alcoholic and finishes with a slight chalky aftertaste that doesn’t last.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2009 Overall impression was definitely skewed by the aroma. Beautiful blonde, full flavour, but sharp, vinegar nose. It tastes like a crafted beer that needs maturity. That could be a function of its ingredients. Definite citrus tones. Perhaps I’m simply not a fan of this style?

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2009 Great cloudy blonde colour with medium-large white head. more of a fruity wheat than a spicy wheat aroma. similar taste with some quite complex bready and herbal notes. crisp finish. Refreshing summer weisse but also one i could enjoy year round. one of the best North American hefeweizens ive had.

TheHulk (486) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - APR 3, 2009
The arom is best avoided, it’s not too appealing but it promises to taste better than it smells. The taste is not too strong or offensive, but it is rather generic beer and not really what I have come to expect from a heffewiesse. It’s ok to have a six-pack, but I wouldn’t order a pint of it at a decent bar that had something good on tap.

Aroma is unpleasent. Smells of wet wheat and arm pits. It looks pretty good. Typical hefeweiz cloudy yellow colour. Nice mouth feel. But the flavour is rather sour. I am not impressed.

CapnCascade (116) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 20, 2008
Pours very cloudy amber-orange, thin white head with little retention. Aromas of tropical fruit and freshly baked bread. Subtle flavour of banana with a very gentle hoppiness on the finish. Mouthfeel is generally quite light, a touch of sparkle on the tongue from the carbo. Not a bad beer, but could be richer in my view.

hotstuff (5257) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 8, 2008
Bottle shared by jsquire. White head that mostly diminished, spotty amounts of lacing, hazy, carbonation observed, and a straw hue. Nose was banana, spicy, yeasty and fresh. Flavor was spicy, clove, banana, and some hoppiness in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Just so-so for the style as the flavor is what disappointed me with this beer as there wasn’t enough of any one flavor. This is one of my favorite beer styles and it left me disappointed and not wanting any more.

mabel (9787) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 6, 2008
[863-20071130] 650mL (w/ GregClow, jerc, tupalev). Light apricot wheat aroma has sweet pineapple grass and banana notes. Cloudy, light orange white body with a quick foamy white head. More banana split wheat in the flavour with a nice solid aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting!

Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 5, 2007
Bottle shared with GregClow, Jerc, and Mabel,m courtesy of jerc and mabel (henceforth known as J & M for my typing purposes). Banana aroma, yeasty, lemon, fresh - nice. Dark hazy yellow, small to medium white head. Taste features more lemon and a surprising amount of bitterness. Still, a bit of a letdown from the amazing aroma. A really solid Hefe, nice work Tree.
