Bottle share at Kenny’s 20K, thanks to Fiona. As ’Tree Hophead Black India Pale Ale’, 8%. Black with a red hue, small dense foamy brown head, dotted lacing. Aroma is chocolate, fruity coffee, red berry. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is chocolate, ash, roasted malt. Quite nice. Not screaming hops at me, but quite nice.

Scopey (15431) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 21, 2016
Bottle at MadMitch76 20K tasting, thanks to Fiona. It pours darkest brown with a thick beige head. The nose is toast, earth, chocolate, treacle, fruit cake and spicy ginger. The taste is bitter, toasted malt, earth, charred wood, earth, cocoa, treacle, Eccles cake, orange peel and Negroni bitterness towards the finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Has an interesting Negroni bitter orange character. Overall not bad.

Black with tan head. Good mouthfeel, medium bodied, creamy, moderately bitter, roasty. Fairly rich, good beer.

A big light tan head with great lacing. The nose features chocolate, earthy and citrus hops with some coffee and cream. The taste profile is a nice balance of the elements from the nose. Add to that a touch of caramel, roasted malt and cream and you have a great black IPA.

These brewers come up with some crazy concoctions. Bitter, sweet, citrus, coffee...this has it all.

Bouteille 650 ml. Couleur brune très foncé, mousse beige. Arôme de houblon ET de torréfaction...ça marche. En bouche, bel équilibre entre la torréfaction, café et un peu de choco et les houblons aromatique et l’amertume en finale. Excellente.

I had a dry-hopped cask version at Kettle Valley. Dark brown with a full creamy head. Piney, minty and chocolatey aroma. Quite bitter, woody and slightly piney hop with a sweet chocolatey, toasty finish. Not sure how this beer escaped my attention before, but it’s got my attention now.

Nice thick light brown head. Very dark appearance, blackish. Pretty strong aroma of malts, wheats, and vanilla. Roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee round out the flavours. Hops are not strong for me in this one, just slightly. Still pretty good.
