caramel, toast, roasty, hay, grass, resin, earthy, black, clear, frothy, tan foam, light sweetness, very bitter, lightly sour, light body, thin feel, average carbonation, bitter, long finish Dark black pour with slow rising, persisting tan foam. Burst of hop aroma initially that hits hard. Green hop aromas of grass and spruce resin combine with the burnt toast sweetness of the malt. Taste is very bitter, but as one prgresses through the glass, a malty sweetness begins to take hold. Mouthfeel is thin with an average carbonation.

Visual: Too bad no info about the beer itself, but a nice printed ink on the bottle. Pours coffee black with a nice smallish creamy dissipating head, thin layer of retention, sticky lacing.
Nose: strong thick malts and coffee/chocolate on the nose, very nice. (8)-aromatic strength.
Attack: biting hops, creamy-fizzy mouthfeel,
Mid-palate: (8)-caramel sweetness (MAIN) malt, chocolate, bitter roast coffee (HINT) pine, licorice
Finish: coffee malt exhale, lingering (6)-bitter grapefruity hops.
Summary: Good complexity. The body is almost there, just a wee thin but the good transitions and depth make up for it. Better than the Black Christmas CDA from Parallel 49. Just like a bittersweet coffee with a good kick to it. (Note: all numbers above are on a 10-point scale, with 1 being weak and 10 being the strongest) Borresteijn (7403) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 28, 2013
65cl Bottle, ABV 8.2%. Thanks H&T! Almost black colour, light-beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, liquorice, some laurel, sweet, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is dry, roasted malts, liqourice, coffee, chocolate, grapefruit hoppy bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice, but lacks a bit of body. Boutip (6483) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 3, 2013
Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with light dry bitter notes. Taste is also dominated by dry roasted alt with some hoppy bitter and dry notes. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation. I thought this was too bitter and almost astringent with the body too thin for the style.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddishbrown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, earthiness, grapefruit, pine and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, earthiness, light pine and light grapefruit with a smooth dry moderatly bitter lingering roasty finish. daniel0017 (452) - Yukon, CANADA - SEP 29, 2013
Very dark body and a tan, foamy head. Aroma is malty, cheesy, bacterial and musky with an organic breadiness. Flavor is sharp and strong sweet molasses and malts offset by a poignant bitter finish. Feels heavy in mouth with a lingering aftertaste. I’d reclassify this as an India Pale Porter. Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 20, 2013
Black colour with a decent tan head. Has a real cat food and pungent hoppy aroma with caramel and a hint of chocolate. Big & bold beer with a real good length, caramlied sweetness and pungent hoppy flavour profile. big and tasty stuff.

pours very dark brown with a small light beige head, some retention and lacing. roasted malt sweetness, cocoa, booze, vegetal but not piney or green, some sweetness. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily, sticky and almost cloying, harsh mineral and bitter coffee finish. lacking in character and drinkability. meh. Bottle 650ml. [8,2%]
Pours very dark brown with low beige head. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, spices. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, slight acidity, good bitterness. Palate: Full bodied. Sticky. Overall: Very sweet. Major lacking of IPA aspects. Bottle too old? Not too sure it’s only that. Not very good.
